In September 2015, the sustainable development goals were adopted by the UN, defining a set of goals to be achieved by 2030 through the collaboration of all countries around the world (http://www.un.org/sustainabledevelopment/sustainable-development-goals/). Each goal has specific targets regarding ending poverty, protecting the planet and ensuring prosperity for all. As part of the Technology and Innovation class in the Masters in Management at IE Business School, my workgroup developed a technology-based solution to support one of the targets in the Sustainable Development Goal #4: “Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all”. With the refugee crisis being a major current topic around the world, and in Europe especially, we developed an application to support refugee children in getting primary education. The application is based on a mentoring system, through which tutors around the world can teach children in refugee camps.

Embedding SoTL, Diversity and Inclusivity at the Course, Program and Institut...
Embedding SoTL in an institution does not happen overnight. Neither does the alignment of SoTL with principles of diversity and inclusivity happen by chance. This panel discussion will share the story of how faculty and staff at University College Cork (UCC) Ireland have worked together to embed SoTL and embrace principles of diversity and inclusion as a SoTL lever. We have been working with SoTL principles for over twenty years and have developed a number of long-term initiatives that have brought about transformational change at course, program, disciplinary and institutional levels, while embracing principles of diversity and inclusivity.
Three panelists address the following questions in an Irish university context:
(i) How can we use professional development (CPD) to spearhead pedagogical, disciplinary and institutional transformation?
(ii) How can we embed diversity and inclusion at the level of the curriculum in sustainable and effective ways to maximize staff and student learning? LL
(iii) How can we ensure that there is sustained commitment at the institutional level towards supporting and embedding inclusive principles across the university and beyond?
(iv) How does a SoTL perspective pervade and inform these questions? At the pedagogical and curriculum levels, for example, we have embraced principles of Universal Design for Learning (UDL) to inform and advance diverse and inclusive practice.
This is achieved in a number of ways:
(i) through the rolling out a suite of online accredited programmes for faculty in the field of teaching and learning in higher education;
(ii) through the option to take a digital badge in UDL;
(iii) through a generic series of virtual and face to face CPD sessions for faculty and staff. All of these initiatives are run by the Centre for the Integration of Research, Teaching and Learning (CIRTL) which is dynamically related to the Colleges and Faculties of the university, through its champions and teaching fellows. We have also pursued alignment at the institutional level through ensuring that teaching and learning remains a central tenet of the Strategic Plan of the university. CIRTL is also part of a wider ambit that includes collaboration with other centres, such as Digital Education, Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) and Inclusive UCC. Each panelist will address one of the questions above, while all will address the SoTL imperative.

Technology has made its presence felt in each walk of life and has changed the pace of modernisation. Information and communication technology accelerated the world towards knowledge economy and higher education should be focused to achieve this. MOOCs Massive Open Online Courses have placed higher education in the public domain at a global scale and not only learners but teachers also get benefited to have their continuous professional development. Realising the need of the hour, India launched an indigenous MOOC platform with name‘SWAYAM’ in July 2017 and has just updated it in May 2019.This paper is part of a broad study to list the suggestions provided by SWAYAM MOOC instructors in different aspects to further improve these courses. It is a survey based self participatory study as its link was shared with 1120 SWAYAM instructors through e mails and 66 of them voluntarily participated. Reforming SWAYAM The Perspective of Instructors
Technology has made its presence felt in each walk of life and has changed the pace of modernisation. Information and communication technology accelerated the world towards knowledge economy and higher education should be focused to achieve this. MOOCs Massive Open Online Courses have placed higher education in the public domain at a global scale and not only learners but teachers also get benefited to have their continuous professional development. Realising the need of the hour, India launched an indigenous MOOC platform with name‘SWAYAM’ in July 2017 and has just updated it in May 2019.This paper is part of a broad study to list the suggestions provided by SWAYAM MOOC instructors in different aspects to further improve these courses. It is a survey based self participatory study as its link was shared with 1120 SWAYAM instructors through e mails and 66 of them voluntarily participated. The suggestions indicated by them can be placed under three categories of technology, instruction and communication, to head towards the further refinement of quality and accessibility of this platform. OBJECTIVE This competition aims to uphold USIM’s aspirations in increasing the awareness of creating sustainable and serene environment among students and academician in USIM. This competition will be one of the catalysts to realize USIM’s sustainable and serenity goals. DESCRIPTION GREEN SULAM COMPETITION is a competition that showcases ideas on SULAM projects that incorporates SULAM pedagogy with USIM’s agenda of Sustainability and Serenity. The duration of the competition is : 25th May – 30th July 2021 The criteria of GREEN SULAM i. The project is based on service-learning pedagogy. ii. - 2. DEFINITION OF SULAM SULAM, Service-Learning Malaysia-University for Society is a teaching and learning approach that combines formal curriculum and community services. Through SULAM, the credit value of the university course and the community engagement hours are included in the student learning time. DEFINITION OF USIM’S AGENDA OF SUSTAINABILITY AND SERENITY USIM highlights the importance of maintaining biodiversity wealth and at the same time implements sustainable development based on the 17 SDG and the five principles of Maqasid Syariah. Social- science COMPETITION RULES i. At least ONE entry from each faculty. Faculties are welcomed to submit more than one entry. ii. All entries must provide a video presentation (10-12 minutes). iii. All entries must provide a written extended abstract (1500 words). OPPORTUNITIES i. The Project Leader/Presenter will be issued with Invited Speaker appointment letter. ii. All extended abstracts will be published as a book chapter. iii. E-certificates will be given to all members.
