The GRE test format consists of three sections: Analytical Writing, Verbal Reasoning, and Quantitative Reasoning. The Analytical Writing section contains one issue topic essay and one argument topic essay, each with a 30 minute time limit. The Verbal Reasoning section contains 20 multiple choice questions testing reading comprehension, text completion, and sentence equivalence over 30 minutes. The Quantitative Reasoning section contains 20 multiple choice, quantitative comparison, and numeric entry questions over 35 minutes. The GRE allows test takers to preview, review, and change answers within sections, and provides an on-screen calculator for the Quantitative Reasoning section.
