International Bible Baptist Church Bangkok, Thailand

2. Titus 2:11-15
11 For the grace of God that bringeth salvation
hath appeared to all men,
12 Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and
worldly lusts, we should live soberly,
righteously, and godly, in this present world;
13 Looking for that blessed hope, and the
glorious appearing of the great God and our
Saviour Jesus Christ;
3. Titus 2:11-15
14 Who gave himself for us, that he
might redeem us from all iniquity, and
purify unto himself a peculiar people,
zealous of good works.
15 These things speak, and exhort, and
rebuke with all authority. Let no man
despise thee.
4. A special theme of the letter is the
role of grace in promoting good
works among God’s people.
Christians should live sanctified lives
because the grace of God that saves us
also instructs us to live in a new way.
5. Grace is defined as courteous goodwill.
Meaning, it's not asked for nor deserved,
but is freely given.
Grace, in its short definition,
is unmerited favour. You cannot earn it.
It is a gift, and is always freely given.
6. It means that you will not be getting
what you deserve.
Grace is getting what you don’t
deserve. That is heaven.
Grace is God’s free gift of his
undeserved, unmerited favour.
7. God’s grace is, “…the merciful
kindness by which God, exerting his
holy influence upon souls, turns
them to Christ, keeps, strengthens,
and increases them in Christian
faith, knowledge, affection, and
kindles them to the exercise of the
Christian virtues” - Strongs
8. It has been said that GRACE stands for
"God's Riches At Christ's Expense".
All that we have as Christians is free,
but it cost God His Son, and it cost
Jesus His Life.
He paid a debt He did not owe,
because we owed a debt that we could
not pay!
9. A simple definition of Grace is
"The underserved love and
favour of God toward fallen
man."
11. Titus 2:11
For the grace of God that
bringeth salvation hath
appeared to all men
12. The words, “all men”
is to emphasize the universal
offer of the gospel.
The offer of salvation is
proclaimed not just to one
group but to all people.
13. God's grace has appeared to all men.
This means that all men have the
opportunity to be saved!
That all men were given the
opportunity to be saved!
That God's grace has appeared and
brought salvation for all people.
That God has extended His love and
compassion toward sinful men.
15. Chuck Swindoll - "The Grace Awakening"
If our greatest need had been information,
God would have sent us an educator.
If our greatest need had been technology,
God would have sent us a scientist.
If our greatest need had been money,
God would have sent us an economist.
If our greatest need had been pleasure,
God would have sent us an entertainer.
But our greatest need was forgiveness,
So God sent us a Saviour!
17. Titus 2:12
Teaching us that, denying
ungodliness and worldly lusts, we
should live soberly, righteously, and
godly, in this present world;
18. The message of God’s grace leads
Christians to say no to ungodliness
and worldly lust.
It also leads Christians to live
soberly, righteously, and godly,
in this present world.
19. 2 Corinthians 5:17
Therefore if any man be in
Christ, he is a new creature:
old things are passed away;
behold, all things are become
new.
20. Ephesians 4:23-32
23 And be renewed in the spirit of your mind;
24 And that ye put on the new man, which after
God is created in righteousness and true holiness.
25 Wherefore putting away lying, speak every man
truth with his neighbour: for we are members one
of another.
26 Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down
upon your wrath:
21. 27 Neither give place to the devil.
28 Let him that stole steal no more: but
rather let him labour, working with his
hands the thing which is good, that he may
have to give to him that needeth.
29 Let no corrupt communication proceed out of
your mouth, but that which is good to the use
of edifying, that it may minister grace unto
the hearers.
22. 30 And grieve not the holy Spirit of God,
whereby ye are sealed unto the day of
redemption.
31 Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger,
and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away
from you, with all malice:
32 And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted,
forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's
sake hath forgiven you
23. “I am not what I ought to be.
I am not what I want to be.
I am not what I hope to be.
But still, I am not what I used to be.
And by the grace of God,
I am what I am.” - John Newton
24. III. God’s Grace Urges Us to Prepare
for the Second Coming of Christ.
25. Titus 2:13
Looking for that blessed
hope, and the glorious
appearing of the great God
and our Saviour Jesus Christ;
26. The word, “looking”
often caries a connotation of
eagerness.
The “blessed hope”
is the appearing of Christ.
27. Acts 1:9-11
9 And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld,
he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight.
10 And while they looked steadfastly toward heaven as he
went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel;
11 Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing
up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you
into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen
him go into heaven.
28. Prophets prophesied it in the OT.
Jesus proclaimed it in the Gospels.
Angels publicized it in Acts 1:11
The Church preached it in the epistles.
Jesus pronounced it three times in Revelation 22
“Behold, I come quickly.”
All prophecies concerning his first coming were
fulfilled.
All prophecies concerning his second coming will
be fulfilled.
29. He came the first time with a star in the east.
He is coming the second time as the bright
and morning star.
He came the first time as a helpless baby;
He comes the second time as a conquering king.
He came the first time riding a donkey.
He comes the second time riding a white horse.
From the Mount of Olives he departed,
and to the Mount of Olives he will return.
30. Zechariah 14:4
And his feet shall stand in that day upon the
mount of Olives, which is before Jerusalem on
the east, and the mount of Olives shall cleave in
the midst thereof toward the east and toward
the west, and there shall be a very great valley,
and half of the mountain shall remove toward
the north, and half of it toward the south.
32. Titus 2:14
Who gave himself for us, that he
might redeem us from all iniquity,
and purify unto himself a peculiar
people, zealous of good works.
33. Titus 2:14 Who gave himself for us, that
he might redeem us from all iniquity…
a. Jesus gave Himself in order to
redeem us from all iniquity
34. 2 Timothy 1:9
Who hath saved us, and called us
with an holy calling, not according to
our works, but according to his own
purpose and grace, which was given
us in Christ Jesus before the world
began,
36. Titus 2:14 …and purify unto himself a
peculiar people…
b. Jesus wants His people to be
purified and be used for God’s glory
37. The word sanctify has the idea
of “purifying something so that
it can be set apart for
exclusive use of the Lord.”
38. Titus 2:14 …zealous of good works
c. Jesus desires us to be zealous of
good works.
39. Titus 2:15
These things speak, and
exhort, and rebuke with all
authority. Let no man despise
thee.
40. We are Saved by Grace,
And in Grace we stand!
Grace upholds our Salvation!
Grace gives us victory in temptation!
Grace helps us endure suffering and pain!
Grace helps us understand God’s Word and
wisely apply it in our lives!
Grace enables us to serve the Lord
effectively!
