To strengthen the GPP (Gulayan sa
Paaralan) projects and activities in every
school, capacity building, a webinar that
entails to provide seminar and workshop on
cultivating, planting and harvesting every
crops and vegetables were conducted. The
speaker conducts a forum which allow
participants to ask questions. In this way,
conversation that will deepen the learning of
every participants were established.
Alabat NHS, on the other hand presented
their best practices on establishing fruitful “Gulayan
sa Paaralan” at “Tahanan” project. They also shared
some effective strategies and approaches to
improve the teaching, learning and development of
every school in all aspects.
Here are some of the notes and pictures on the best practices of Alabat NHS, GPP which
really motivates all the participants to develop their own GPP program.
The “Gulayan sa Paaralan” as part of the BE 2021
initiated the program as it follow the program matrix
stated in the action plan.
Initial step was taken into consideration by
the coordinator and with the help of advisers where they
distributed seedlings among students who are eager and
capable to plant vegetables at their backyard.
It was monitored from distribution of seeds, land
preparation, planting, talking good care of it and finally
harvesting the plants.
It was guided by the advisers in applying of
pesticides and organic fertilizers which are
available at their homes.
With the guidance of every advisers the progress of the “Gulayan sa Tahanan” were
nourished until it was harvested by the parents.
The Department of
Agriculture sponsored sacks of organic
fertilizers distributed among parents
which will nurture and nourished the
planted vegetable as they promote
organic farming for healthy living.
Fertilizers were also made
of vermicast which came from poops of
the worms which will enriched the soil
that will feed the vegetables to grow
abundantly so that the parents will
harvest more than they expected.
It was supported by the
LGU in the promotion of organic farming
to a healthy living of the people in the
community.
The advocacy of the program aims to provide
organic vegetables among families who participated in the
“Gulayan sa tahanan” whom they promote the essence of
organic farming and its effect of good nourishment than
commercialized planting.
The program will be implemented for the
entire school year with the aid of monitoring and proper
documentation of the output.
It also promotes camaraderie among members
of the family for the harvested vegetables will sustain the
needs of the family.
The program became possible with the help
and support of stakeholders and parents.
