Alkynes are hydrocarbons containing a carbon-carbon triple bond. They have the general formula CnH2n-2 and the bond angle around the triple bond is linear at 180 degrees. The triple bond consists of one sigma bond from overlapping s orbitals and two pi bonds from overlapping p orbitals. Unlike single bonds, triple bonds do not rotate freely due to the rigid nature of the pi bonds.
This document provides a summary of Karen Armstrong's book "A Short History of Myth" focusing on the origins and evolution of mythology from Neanderthals through the modern era. Some of the key points covered include: how early humans like Neanderthals developed mythology to explain the world; how myths served important social and psychological functions for hunter-gatherers and early farmers; the emergence of major mythological themes and figures during early civilizations; the transformation of mythology during the Axial Age with the rise of philosophies like Hinduism and Buddhism; and how the ascendance of rationalism in the modern era has led to the decline of mythology in the Western world.
The document discusses key economic concepts including that people want more than they can afford and must choose how to best use their limited resources, that economics revolves around money as a medium of exchange for goods and services controlled by the government through the Federal Reserve System, and that trade-offs usually involve sacrificing something wanted to save money or resources.

This document discusses different theories of motivation and what motivates individuals. It describes motivation as initiating and guiding goal-oriented behaviors. Extrinsic motivations come from external rewards while intrinsic motivations arise internally. Theories discussed include Frederick Taylor's view that pay is the main motivator and Elton Mayo's perspective that social and emotional needs are also important. Abraham Maslow's hierarchy of needs is explained as motivating basic needs before higher-level needs. Research by Dan Pink suggests autonomy, mastery, and purpose are key motivators, especially for complex tasks where money is not a primary driver. The document concludes the most effective motivators include breaking tasks into manageable chunks, autonomy over pace of learning, recognizing achievements through "bad

The document summarizes the origins and history of Norse mythology from the last ice age to the Viking Age. It describes how early hunter-gatherer tribes in Scandinavia transitioned to farming and were later invaded by Indo-European groups. Norse religion and mythology developed out of these cultures between 3000 BCE-500 CE. The Viking Age began in 793 CE when Vikings raided monasteries in England and went on to explore regions like Iceland, Greenland, and North America between 800-1100 CE. Norse gods like Odin and Thor were eventually replaced as most Vikings converted to Christianity between the 8th-12th centuries, though some traditions remained influential or were revived later.

Larry?
