Matter can exist in three states: solid, liquid, or gas. Solids have a definite shape and volume, liquids have a definite volume but take the shape of their container, and gases fill their container and spread out evenly. Students will learn to identify common examples of each state of matter and understand how they differ in terms of particles and properties.
