3. Poseidon Poseidon was the god of the sea and as “Earth-Shaker” of earthquakes in Greek mythology. The name of the sea-god Nethuns in Etruscan was adopted in Latin for Neptune in Roman mythology: both were sea gods analogous to Poseidon. For me, his name means to posses something.
4. Nike Nike was a goddess who personified victory also known as the Winged Goddess of Victory. The roman equivalent was Victoria. For me, her name means something with a shoe brand which is Nike.
5. Ares Ares is the Greek god of war. “Ares is apparently an ancient abstract noun meaning throng of battle, war. For me, Ares means one of the zodiac sign which is Aries and maybe a rest.
6. Aphrodite Aphrodite is the Greek goddess of love, beauty and sexuality. Her Roman equivalent is the goddess Venus. Historically, her cult in Greece was imported from or influenced by the cult of Astarte in Phoenicia. For me, her name means the planet which is Venus.
7. Hermes Hermes is the great messenger of the gods in Greek mythology and additionally a guide to the Underworld. Hermes was born on Mount Cyllene in Arcadia. For me, his name means a strong man.
8. Eros Eros was the primordial god of sexual love and beauty. He was also worshipped as a fertility deity. His roman counterpart was Cupid. For me, his name means erosion.
