Taiwan is an independent state with a population of 23 million located off the coast of China. The capital and largest city is Taipei, known for its nightlife, restaurants, and annual lantern festival in January. Taipei has many districts including the political center and original neighborhoods. Japanese citizens can visit Taiwan for up to 90 days without a visa if they have a valid passport and return ticket. Some things to keep in mind are using toilet paper carefully, not photographing military sites, bringing an umbrella due to rain, and exchanging currency upon arrival.
