6. What is the Future for Broadband
Tactical Satellite Communications?
PRE-CONFERENCE WORKSHOP HOSTED BY COBHAM | 26TH NOVEMBER 2012
Workshop Overview
In Association With
Satellite links provide a key capability widely used by military
commanders for tactical communications. UHF and L-Band
systems are in widespread use; however, the adoption of higher
frequency, higher data rate, systems has been “the next big thing”
for a number of years and, for land systems, reality has never quite
matched expectations. This workshop will explore the key technical
and commercial enablers and challenges that affect the success of
higher frequency broadband tactical services. Bringing in
perspectives from satellite operators, service providers and
equipment suppliers, the workshop will explore these challenges in
the context of the current pressures on defence spending and look
at the prospects for broadband tactical satellite communications
over the next decade.
Who Should Attend?
The workshop is aimed at those involved in the design, specification,
