The document describes the key components of a data collection and tracking platform called GIPS. The GiPS.centre component acts as the core data repository, importing data from external CSV files and updates from local devices. It also displays collected data on maps. The GiPS.online component is a web server. The GiPS.mobile app runs on Android devices and collects item data from the field, sending it to GiPS.online. The GiPS.locale component manages local item data in its database and updates the main GiPS.centre repository. Together these components allow for interoperable data collection, tracking, and access across different devices and systems.

GiPS.centre (GC)
The core info repository for each
customer. Data are imported into the
RDBMS from external supplied CSV
data feed files and updated from local
insertions coming from GM and GL.
Collects data coming from field
operator's GM devices converting and
storing them into a Spatial RDBMS. It's
also a Web server, displaying barcode
information on maps and grids.
GiPS.online (GO)GiPS.mobile (GM)
An Android App that exploits handheld
device's capabilities, reads and stores
items data sending them in the
background to GiPS.online through any
available data connection.
Local item management with its own
subordinate RDBMS. It keeps the local
physical barcode tracking stages by
retrieving informations from GC and
updating the main info repository.
