Georgia's current state flag was adopted in 2003 and features two horizontal red stripes separated by a white stripe with a blue square in the top left containing a circle of 13 white stars around the state seal. Georgia was the 4th state to join the United States in 1788 and has Atlanta as its capital and largest city, with over 8 million residents as of 2000 who are referred to as Georgians.
