GENERAL BROCK’S COMMISSARY –
LOCAL FOOD TASTES GOOD!
Cornerstone manager Lisa Scales, left and owner Penny Knapp, right.
General Brock’s Commissary is one of
Kingston’s latest editions to the foodie lover’s
block downtown – that small stretch on Brock
Street just north of King – where it’s nestled
among other established gems. Inspired by the
history of its location, it’s just steps away from the
site of Kingston’s original military commissary
(a general store that catered to troops during the
War of 1812).
General Brock’s Commissary is an epicurean
delight that brings the flavors of Upper Canada to
your kitchen table. This charming independent
shop hosts sampling stations allowing customers
to try new products before purchasing. Taste the
difference with a variety of locally-made treats
and artisanal foods – from gourmet mustards,
jams, chutneys and barbeque spices to Mennonite
sausages, handmade chocolate truffles and fudge,
distinct confectionary goods and speciality gift
items like small-batch goat’s milk soap and other
handmade souvenirs.
Come visit with General Brock and Commodore
Yeo and relive Kingston’s valiant military history
and get a taste for Kingston during the War of
1812.
Commissary hours are Monday to Friday from
10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and
Sunday 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
