Editor's Notes
-What can we as a community do for you?
-This question is what keeps me up at night.
-As we engage you’ll come to understand why this question is important.
-We believe fostering relationships are a key component for a thriving startup community.
-By fostering relationships, we can begin to remove barriers in the entrepreneurs journey.
-This is one step in our efforts to move towards #zerobarriers for entrepreneurs.
-So how exactly do we accomplish that?
-GEN Starters is designed to to be a peer-to-peer network for startup founders.
-At the most basic level, we connect founders to each other.
-The entrepreneur-to-entrepreneur connection across borders will help expand the founder’s network.
-But what’s the next level support we provide?
-As we begin, we are identifying exceptional founders across our network of competition partners.
-We have come to see their finalists and winners are looking for something else beyond the competition.
-What we have come to find is that what they need most at that point are mentors.
-So how does this happen?
-Well, we are mindful of not wasting their time.
-Through a strategic onboarding process, we identify which mentors they may need at that stage of their journey.
-We also provide them VIP access into GEN’s programs, and place them on a global stage like the GEC.
-In fact, we have a few with us today. GEN Starters, please rise.
-These are some the exceptional founders with us this week. Look at their faces and find some time to engage them.
-They all have unique ideas and challenges, so ask them how we as a community can help out (see what I did there?).
-Over the past year we’ve added a second cohort to connect exceptional founders across the globe.
-To come full circle, I want to come back to the original question. When you go back and think through prizes for your competitions, ask yourself, what can we as a community do for you, the entrepreneur?
-Add in access to the GEN Starters Club as a prize and see what it can do for your community.
-But also who do you know that could be a good mentor? Who wants to give back and help the next generation of startup founders?
-Thank you.
