1. Tiya had the daily responsibility of collecting drinking water from a well near Pidurangala for his family, continuing a habit started by his brother. The water from this well was clean unlike the brackish water found in most local wells.
2. On his walk home, Tiya had to be alert for elephants that may be in the area as it was their time to come out. He could hear one close by breaking tree branches.
3. As he approached his village, Tiya could see smoke from cooking fires and hear children playing. He was feeling hungry after his bath and looked forward to whatever his mother had prepared, as he also needed to take a meal to his father
