10. SHARK N’ MINNOW
Designated swimmers (yellow) tag/pull swimmers
to the surface before touching the opposite side of
the pool, TO BE CAUGHT and spread until one’s
left.
11. DEMOLITION DERBY
Four teams cross to opposite corner and sit to
win. Pull other team’s swimmers away from their
goal corner. Anything goes in middle but big
people cannot hold little people underwater.
13. SHORTENING RELAY
• 250 relay with fastest swimming the 100
• 4 relays starting at 1 and moving toward starting
end after each swim. Safe starts on #4
14. ROCK – PAPER – SCISSORS
5 swimmers each end of lane. First swimmers race
to midpool and do RPS. Winner sprints to goal on
opposite end. Winner sprints to meet the next
swimmer on the other team for RPS where they
meet. Loser swims back in empty lane. First team to
touch goal wins and teams start again.
15. CALL IT RELAY
Next swimmer in leading team calls a DIFFERENT
stroke and all other swimmers must to it. Lane 6
incoming swimmer is doing back so next swimmer
might call fly.
16. CATCH-UP RELAY
(AUSTRIALIAN)
End with two people start simultaneously and relay
continues until on team out touches the other on
the same end of the pool.
17. BROKEN RELAYS - EOP
• 4 swimmers, not always best 4 mixed?
• 200 Medley /Free Relay with 10 SR at 25’s –
good exchanges.
• Start watch on start and stop hand at 25,
restart when feet leave the wall (10.5)
• Get split at each exchange. (23.2)
• Continue for the whole 200.
18. KICKBOARD RELAY
6 to 8 / lane all with kickboards, biggest kids
at end of each line. Each swimmer kicks a 25
and hands off until the last kid has all the
kickboards. Must swim all to goal.
19. T-SHIRT - Teamates pull shirt over head – onto
the next swimmer. Head down, grasp wrists.

21. ROCKY ROAD
Stand shoulder to shoulder by time or height. Count off
by number of lanes and go to assigned lane. Add average
times to see winning lane who goes for ice cream. Used
weekly on test sets. Waves – 12 free – 6 bk/fly – 6 bst
22. REST N’ GO - last swimmer rests one swim
and then leads with each swimmer dropping back one
spot. Slow swimmers MUST lead, not slipstream.
LA FREEWAY – last swimmer has 25 yds to
pass the first and then jamb the pace for the NEW
last swimmer to pass.
23. 2 VS 1
• STOP OVER PACE
• Swimmers afraid to race are given a pace. If they fail to
hold pace the entire team starts the swim OVER again.
Re-dos and peer pressure work.

24. DARTBOARD – WING IT
From 10’ away each swimmer throws a dart on the
dart board or pull buoy at the chalk board. They

Each 3 swimmer teams race 6 x 150 relay having to go
under assigned paces. Only the relay total times under
count with a 3 second pad. It took 9 -150’s to make the

42. ONE BETTER
Find that breaststroker for a medley? The
slowest swimmer swims a TT 50 first and every
following swimmer must go faster than
ANYONE ahead or they do a Reverse 400 IM
43. CHASE
One swimmer gets a 3 second lead on the field and
must touch the other side before anyone touches
ahead of them. If out-touched they go again.
44. KING/QUEEN OF THE POOL
EVERYONE sprints across the pool. The two last

backstroke flags, take a turn sprinting in

Use a surgical tubing for EOP volunteer time
trials. Tie RED ribbon on the end of those
tubing that must be used.
