ABOUT
The Game UX Summit debuted in 2016, hosted by Epic Games, as the
first UX conference dedicated to the game industry, and it attracted
over 250 attendees.
It is now an anticipated annual event in North America, as well as in
Europe, covering all aspects of UX, from design to research to strate-
gy.
In 2017, the Game UX Summit was hosted by Ubisoft Toronto and in
2018 it was hosted by EA Vancouver, each session attracting over
300 attendees from all over the world.
The Game UX Summit is a unique event to network with UX
professionals and UX advocates in the game industry and will
likely continue to grow given the increasing focus on UX in video
game development.

ORGANIZERS
Celia Hodent is recognized as a leader in the application of user experience and
psychology in video game design. She holds a PhD in psychology from the Uni-
versity of Paris Descartes-Sorbonne, France, where she specialized in cognitive
development.
She has worked at Ubisoft Paris, Ubisoft Montreal, LucasArts, and Epic Games
to help guide the studios, and their projects, toward improved user experience
practices.
Celia is also the founder and curator of the Game UX Summit.
She is the author of The Gamer’s Brain: How Neuroscience and UX can Im-
pact Video Game Design, published in August 2017.
Born in 2009, Game IN is a trade association gathering video game industry
companies located in Hauts-de-France. It aims to organize, develop & pro-
mote the video game activity and enhance business opportunities.
Game IN is made up of 40 gaming industry companies from development
studios, publishers, distributors, accessories, schools to specialized
services providers.
Play IN Lab services focus on users tests for video games (mecha-
nics understanding, the difficulty curve, controls, interface...). These
tests always occur on a sample of players matching with the game’s
target.
Through the observation of the players, the analysts of Play IN Lab
gives an analysis and advices enabling developers to improve their
product consequently.
Play IN Lab is a cooperative society founded in 2012 as a Game
IN’s initiative. It is the first mutualized platform in Europe for
users tests.

  • 2. ABOUT The Game UX Summit debuted in 2016, hosted by Epic Games, as the first UX conference dedicated to the game industry, and it attracted over 250 attendees. It is now an anticipated annual event in North America, as well as in Europe, covering all aspects of UX, from design to research to strate- gy. In 2017, the Game UX Summit was hosted by Ubisoft Toronto and in 2018 it was hosted by EA Vancouver, each session attracting over 300 attendees from all over the world. The Game UX Summit is a unique event to network with UX professionals and UX advocates in the game industry and will likely continue to grow given the increasing focus on UX in video game development. She holds a PhD in psychology from the Uni- versity of Paris Descartes-Sorbonne, France, where she specialized in cognitive development. She has worked at Ubisoft Paris, Ubisoft Montreal, LucasArts, and Epic Games to help guide the studios, and their projects, toward improved user experience practices. Celia is also the founder and curator of the Game UX Summit. She is the author of The Gamer’s Brain: How Neuroscience and UX can Im- pact Video Game Design, published in August 2017. Born in 2009, Game IN is a trade association gathering video game industry companies located in Hauts-de-France. It aims to organize, develop & pro- mote the video game activity and enhance business opportunities. Game IN is made up of 40 gaming industry companies from development studios, publishers, distributors, accessories, schools to specialized services providers. Play IN Lab services focus on users tests for video games (mecha- nics understanding, the difficulty curve, controls, interface...). These tests always occur on a sample of players matching with the game’s target. Through the observation of the players, the analysts of Play IN Lab gives an analysis and advices enabling developers to improve their product consequently.
