Technology would influence the interactions depending on the type of interaction. Few types of interactions are already transformed
by the screen (text, image, video) and voice services. Further transformations will be brought by new disruptive technologies
Legacy influence persists Fully transformed
4. IMPACT OF TECHNOLOGY ON TIME & SPACE
Time and space have been made irrelevant by communication technologies. Today, the richness and quality in all types of virtual
interaction is still restricted to screen and voice when time and space are differentiated. In future, next generation interaction
technologies like virtual reality, Augmented reality would create a new dimension of presence in the interactions

PHYSICAL PRESENCE

Screens
Screens are predominant interface technologies today. In future, there would be innovations in interface technologies
with interactive functions. These innovations would make physical presence irrelevant in formal and certain informal
connections.
6. Development across different segments of people would be different. Time and space would eventually be made irrelevant
across all segments. Segments which currently rank low in rich communication would catch up with wider adoption of existent
technologies. Segments which rank high in rich communication would innovate and increase richness in communication.

REVIEW PORTALS
CONTENT PORTALS
E-Commerce websites with review
comparisons induces indirect
communication among people
Previously buyer is influenced by his
close
Circle, but now buying decisions
are influenced indirectly by many
people
Blogs and forums help people with
similar interests discuss varied
topics.
These blogs and forums when linked to other
web of information may influence a different
section without any interest in these topics
There will be formation of many transient and
permanent groups of people in these mediums
UNINTENDED
INFLUENCE
Specific review websites also function as
entertainment arena.
People may start using these applications in
an innovative way. For instance, movie
review website may be used as
a movie discovery website
Content portals like Netflix, Youtube
may be used as review platforms.
Following certain channels and the viral link
inbuilt in these platforms may make a
particular content reach an untargeted
audience
8. EMERGENCE OF A NEW LANGUAGE
A New image/visual based language would emerge. This can break linguistic barriers universally. Though this would influence only
younger generation in the beginning, because of their early adopter behavior, they would carry this habit to their future and to some
extent this language will become a norm.

9. PEOPLE AS JOURNALIST
Today, we only consume news. In few years, we would also be generating news in real-time and in a richer way. Content of the
news would also change. It would be short, instant, truthful and interactive. New regulations and data science based technologies
may come into effect to control the flow of news and eliminate fraud.

Content gets aggregated in these
platforms directly from people and
also from other sources like twitter,
Facebook and new sources
These platforms would be monitoring and filtering
the fraud and malicious content. New definitions
would emerge to define the fraud content.
Maintaining individual freedom of expression is a
complex issue that will be further unfold in the
future.
Aggregate platforms will produce short snippets of
news from curated content from generation
platforms
10. APPLICATION OF TECHNOLOGY TO AID
INTERACTION IN FUTURE
REGULATION TRANSLATION ASSISTANCE
• More intelligent data processing
would be handled by the high
performance systems with the rules
fed in to detect fraud and malicious
content
• Technology would also be used to
find the copyrighted content being
misused etc.
• Technology would create a much
more open world meanwhile in
tussle with the regulations.
• Technology would help translating
one language to another in real-
time helping people to interact
without any restrictions
• Technology would also help people
with speaking disabilities, by giving
them voice with gesture
recognition technologies
• Technology would also help people
organize interactions and help reply
on their behalf.
• Though this may not takeover all
the interactions, few of the usual
interactions will be handled by the
tech assistants (A.I & data
processors)
11. CONCERNS
The transformation in social interaction would pose concerns about following areas.
• PRIVACY AND ANONYMITY – Some one/machine is always reading the information that
should be private to you.
• UNINTENDED INTERACTIONS – Children interacting with unknown people etc.
• LOSS OF PHYSICAL TOUCH - Family size may reduce and people living in silos may increase and
the interaction may become predominantly virtual. As humans are social beings, how they will adapt to
these changes in future and what could be consequences are questions that needs to be answered.
12. EPILOGUE
• Focus of next wave of technology : Anywhere, anytime – Richer communication
• Rate of adoption of varied technologies would be different for different segments. While some segments
would be adopting screen based technologies, some other segments would be adopting other interface
technologies. Some segments may leap directly to interface technologies.
• Social media, instant messaging apps and other portals enable unintended interactions and influences. The
way they are used would also see major changes. There would be many transient groups along with
permanent groups.
• There is a possibility of new languages emerging based on images, GIFs and videos.
• New evolution in technologies and interactions would bring in changes to regulations. It would help in real
time interaction of people from different backgrounds and people with disabilities.
• Along with transformation in social interaction, some concerns would arise.
