This document discusses various metrics that can be used to measure fundraising effectiveness and efficiency. It outlines frameworks like Greenfield's 9 points and the Feldman pyramid that identify key metrics around donors, income, expenses, participation rates, and more. The document also discusses metrics for measuring donor loyalty and retention based on Sargeant and Jay's loyalty model focusing on service, risk, shared beliefs and other factors. Finally, it recommends starting with a limited set of metrics and benchmarks before implementing measurement and assessing the costs and benefits of different approaches.
Will working mothers take your company to court?Muhammad Baig
This document discusses maternal wall bias and discrimination faced by working mothers. It provides statistical information showing mothers are 79% less likely to be hired, 50% less likely to be promoted, and paid $11k less on average compared to childless women. The document also discusses different forms of maternal wall bias, such as prescriptive bias involving "should" statements or benevolent prescriptive stereotyping. Several studies examining flexibility stigma and its impact on mothers are also mentioned. The conclusion warns that working mothers are more likely to sue employers for discrimination, and two-thirds of plaintiffs prevail in such cases, so employers need lenient and ethical family policies.
Verbal abuse is a form of violence that allows the abuser to gain control over the victim without leaving physical marks. It is characterized as being hurtful, manipulative, controlling, unpredictable, and tends to escalate over time. Verbal abuse destroys relationships and causes emotional and health problems for the victim, such as low self-esteem, depression, and social isolation. The Department of Health and Human Services defines domestic violence broadly as a pattern of behaviors used by one partner to assert power and control over the other.

Alan Kattelmann interned at Volunteer Macon during his final semester at Mercer University. He was able to jump right into work on implementation strategies for the organization due to his prior public health knowledge from academic studies. Alan was timely with schedules and deadlines, conducted research and summarized findings, planned his own events, and participated well in meetings. He was well-liked by coworkers and never caused conflicts. Alan was more of an asset than most interns due to his interest in public health issues and how implementations work at the community level.

The assessment contains 22 skills rated on a scale of 1 to 4, with 1 indicating need for development, 2 representing low competence, 3 denoting mid-level competence, and 4 signifying high competence. The skills listed for assessment include both soft skills like writing, public speaking, time management, and stress management as well as technical skills such as emailing.
The document discusses developing a comprehensive development plan for an organization with the following key points:
1) Conducting interviews and working with staff to translate the organization's long-range plan into annual development and fundraising activities.
2) Developing fundraising strategies like an annual campaign, corporate/foundation gifts, special events, and major/planned giving.
3) Assessing current and potential donors to make recommendations and increase unrestricted giving through "donor clubs".
4) Providing a proposed budget and calendar for the recommended development plan.

Math plays an important role in many areas of everyday life. Basic math like addition and subtraction is easily understood and used from a young age. More advanced math like algebra and geometry is initially difficult to grasp but has practical applications such as banking, driving, building, and science. The most complex math relates to higher concepts and seems unusable, though it enables technologies and activities we encounter regularly such as taxes, banking, driving, flying, science, and sports.
