Four Democrats are running for three seats on the Freemansburg Borough Council. The candidates are: Mark Lorrah, a maintenance supervisor who is running for the first time but has lived in Freemansburg his whole life; George Wilson III, the incumbent council member whose focus has been maintaining borough facilities; Rudolph Gallich, also an incumbent who advocates for additional tax revenue to repair borough hall; and Will Power, a bridge maintenance worker who has run unsuccessfully for other offices in the past.

FREEMANSBURG
Four Democrats are seeking three vacancies on the borough
council. The winner of the May 21 primary election will move
on unopposed to the November election.
Mark Lorrah
Maintenance supervisor at Phoenix Tube in Bethlehem
He opposes any new tax increases but is open to revenue
from government grants as well as additional Sands
Bethlehem Casino Grants.
“I’m on the frugal side. I see Freemansburg as a working
class town,” Lorrah said.
This is Lorrah’s first campaign for political office, but he is
confident his lifetime residency lends him an accurate
assessment of Freemansburg’s character.
“It’s a small town, which I’d like to preserve and not get
swallowed by Allentown or Bethlehem,” Lorrah said. Mark
Lorrah’s brother, Homer “Bud” Lorrah, currently serves as
Council president.

George Wilson III
Founded his own construction company and consultant firm
in 1970.
Incumbent
The mainstay of Wilson’s term on borough council is keeping
the borough water and sewage facilities in accordance with
state regulations. Wilson is encouraged by the progress of the
city, but stresses there is still much work to do.
“I believe a lot has happened in the past four years. I think
it’s pertinent that we move forward with what we started. It
would be counter-productive for another team to come on at
this point,” Wilson says.
Wilson’s highest priority is “managing what we have and
working with the city of Bethlehem and their engineers [on
future projects.]”

Incumbent
Gallich seeks re-election to borough council after serving as
chairman of the finance committee. He previously served as
chairman of the street committee in the ’00-’04 term.
Gallich advocates for additional tax revenue, citing the
disrepair of borough hall.
“The building is falling apart…the furnace wires are bare,
doors are off their hinges…heating, electrical, plumbing, you
name it,” Gallich said. The Freemansburg Fire Department
recently installed a bucket to catch water from the hall’s
leaking roof.
Will Power. He did not return messages seeking comment.
He’s a bridge maintenance worker with the Delaware River
Joint Toll Bridge Commission.
Power has unsuccessfully run for a range of public offices
including Bethlehem mayor in 1989 and 1993, Bethlehem
City Council in 1991, Allentown City Council in 2003,
Northampton County Council in 2007 and 2009.
