This document discusses the development of the WHO Fracture Risk Assessment Tool (FRAX), which was created to help identify individuals at high risk of fracture. It was developed by an international group with the support of organizations like the WHO and IOF. FRAX calculates the 10-year probability of osteoporotic fracture based on individual clinical risk factors with or without bone mineral density measurements. It allows clinicians to better assess fracture risk in settings where bone density tests may not be available.
