Formal Elements
This slide show shows my understanding of the formal
elements: line, texture, tone/ contrast, shape, space,
colour and form.
Line 1: this image demonstrates a clear
understanding of the formal element line.
This image shows vertical lines. this line gives
the effect of the eye drawing itself down the
image.
Line 2: the lines in this photograph emphasizes the
organic shape of the shell.
Line 3: this photograph is of a rollercoaster which
shows many types of line such as diagonal, vertical
horizontal, curved and straight lines.
Texture1: The vibrant colours in this image
create impact and enhance the texture of the
salad.
Texture 2: this photograph of sushi shows the texture
of the sushi and fish eggs on top. The fish eggs
texture can suggest its smooth texture whereas the
main sushi can suggest a rough texture.
Texture 3:This image shows the fine texture of fur.
Texture 4: This image shows a very creamy texture.
Contrast 1: This is a photo of a black and white kitten to
portray contrast.
Contrast 2: This coffee shows a gradient effect which can act as
contrast, contrast for how it changes from dark to light.
Contrast 3: this image of contrast shows the changing
from dark to light sky colour.
Form 1: this photograph of ‘form’ shows how the light hits
the object to make it look 3D and emphasises it's shape
and volume.
Form 2: this image of form shows a hand and how it looks 3d.
Form 3: This image of a shell shows form and the
curved horizontal lines enhance this idea.
Space 1: this image of space shows positive and negative space a with the sky
to help with a little bit of contrast to make this idea better.
Space 2: this photograph also portrays space.
Space 3: I have been inspired by a photographer
named Andre kertesz. I have chosen to take this photo
of space like he has because it demonstrates a clear
understanding of positive and negative space, also
instead of using a fork and a plate I have decided to
use a comb and a plate to change up the idea. Andre Kertesz
Colour 1: this image has a bright pop of colour and
shows primary colours and complementary colours
with the green and red icing put together.
Colour 2: this image shows how some parts of the rocks have been
saturated and how the colour is very eye catching.
Colour 3: This image of colour also shows the popcorn having colour but
to really exaggerate the colour in this image , some aspects of the photo
have been saturated.
Shape 1: this image shows shape along with form. The star fish in this
image has a strange but unique shape. It shows organic and geometric
shape mixed.
Shape 2: this image shows a main circular shape for the ring
but it contains more organic and geometrical shapes such as
circles and wavy lines acting as borders.
Shape 3: this image shows interesting image of shape
as this has a unique organic shape to the plant, this
photo has been taken form a specific angle which can
enhance this idea of shape.
