3. THE OBSERVANCE OF THE Three unities The scene of the action remains the same throughout. The unity of action, the unity of place, and the unity of time have all been observed. The observance of the three unities makes for a greater concentration of effect.
4. Some light thrown on stanley’s character In the first place it is through Lulu’s references to Stanley's appearance that his shabbiness is emphasized. Stanley’s refusal to go out with Lulu shows his regression to a state of childhood and his reluctance to come to gripes with his responsibilities as a grown-up an mature man.
5. The birthday party proposed. meg’s present of a toy-drum The conversation between Meg and these two men shows Goldberg’s inquisitiveness about Meg’s lodger. This Act closes with Meg’s giving Stanley a boy’s drum as a birthday present to him.
6. The cross-examination: the central episode in the play This cross examination which consists chiefly of series of accusation against Stanley is like an impeachment or arraignment of the victim. This also may show that Stanley has really betrayed some criminal organization which has now send this two man seize him and take him bake to face the consequences of this act of betrayal.
