One night, the narrator dreamed of walking on the beach with the Lord and seeing scenes from their life flash in the sky, sometimes with two sets of footprints and other times with just one. The narrator asked the Lord why there was only one set of footprints during the most difficult periods of their life, and the Lord replied that those were the times when he carried the narrator.

1. FOOTPRINTS

2. One night I dreamed…

3. I was walking along the beach with the Lord.

4. Many scenes from my life flashed across the sky.

5. In each scene I noticed footprints in the sand.

6. Sometimes there were two sets of footprints…

7. Other times there were one set of footprints…

8. This bothered me…

9. Because I noticed that during the low periods of my life when I was suffering from anguish, sorrow, or defeat…

10. I could see only one set of footprints.

11. So I said to the Lord, “You promised me. Lord, that if I followed You, You would walk with me always.”

12. But I noticed when the most trying periods of my life there have only been one set of footprints in the sand.

13. “Why, when I needed You most, You have not been there to me?”

14. The Lord replied, “The times when you have seen one set of footprints it was then that I carried you”
