The water cycle describes the continuous movement of water on, above, and below the surface of the Earth. It includes processes such as evaporation where water is changed to a gas, condensation where it returns to a liquid form in clouds, and precipitation where it falls back to Earth as rain, snow, hail or sleet. The water is then absorbed by plants through transpiration or runs across the land as surface runoff before the cycle repeats.
