Football originated as a student game between Yale and Harvard universities who adapted rules from English rugby, changing the ball shape and name. An oversight association was formed for the new American sport which grew in popularity, with over 10 professional teams by 1920 leading to the formation of the NFL. The Dallas Cowboys are among the most popular NFL teams known as "America's Team", facing off against their NFC East rival Philadelphia Eagles in a game on September 21st.
