When Women come to FLS they are hurting. They are at the end of their rope with parenting, finances, and relationships.
This is where the FLS mission begins to materialize for them.
The mission of Family Life Services (FLS) is to provide single parents and their children with spiritual and emotional healing through counseling, mentoring, and training in a secure environment.
How do we provide healing to moms and their children?
We provide to our families a 2 year program
-Low fee housing (per child)
-Weekly support groups for moms & Children’s programs
-Counseling (one on one)
The desire to restore the family where possible. We also act as advocates for the moms when they are in difficult situations. i.e. court proceedings, and going through the right channels to get goverment program assistance when needed.
Community Involvement: Providing workshops and seminars for the COS community in the field of professional counseling, specifically single parent family related topics.
Serving our culture’s most vunerable will continue to be part of our fabric and heritage.
Part of that Healing that becomes noticeable quickly is how our the children begin to respond once a pattern of normalcy and stablity is established.
This is where our Children’s programming begins to work in their little lives. By providing Biblical mentoring, fun activities and unconditional love and support, our children begin to have a healthy context for relationships.
So what this then does for them...
Our children then begin to have hope again.
Their future becomes wide open for them as they begin to break the un-healthy cycles that they have become accustomed to, just like their moms.
When mom gets healthy, and the children feel secure they can begin to dream about their future.
So what does help look like at Family Life Services? We offer Bible study mentoring for our mothers, counseling, affordable housing, financial advising, and children’s programming to get them back on their feet. It truly is a community of individuals working to help our moms meet their goals.
While what we minister to is very “messy” at times, and not all families are at the same place, but everyone at FLS is committed to move these families forward.
Cost for housing personal counseling, group, child sessions, and children’s programing 1x per week for a month is $2,500 or $30,000 a year. This is more than the $26,500 average earnings per year of a single mom can make (MSN Money)
Through the FLS services the cost to house, provide counseling, child programing to the mother for one year is remotely what it would cost for one month if she were on her own.
