Also, many people who came to Florida had plantations with slaves. The Seminole tribe angered the new settlers because they kept runaway slaves in their villages and integrated with them. A treaty was signed with some Seminoles agreeing to leave Florida, but others stayed to defend their land. This resulted in the Seminole Wars.
