This document summarizes a research study that investigated the flexural behavior of reinforced concrete beams containing high-density polyethylene (HDPE) plastic waste from shredded vegetable boxes as a substitute for coarse aggregate. Three beams were tested with 10%, 20%, and 30% HDPE plastic replacements, while one control beam had 0% replacement. The beam with 30% replacement showed similar cracking and failure time to the control beam, with an increase in toughness of 24% and a reduction in load capacity of 7%. These results indicate that a 30% HDPE plastic replacement can provide competent flexural behavior while achieving sustainability goals.
