"TEEING OFF INTO A REMARKABLE YEAR!"
Stepping into 2024 with a larger team of coaches and a supporter base is an incredible
privilege and is what will allow us to pursue another year of sustainable growth. Your
donations will directly go towards opening School Programming, particularly in public
schools in Dorado and Humacao, where we will be able to reach more underserved
youth in areas where On The Course Programs are already available. A third On The
Course Program location and collaborations with other youth development
organizations are also in the works, particularly in the west and south of the island
where we have not yet hosted programming.

WARM WELCOME TO 2024
As we draw closer to Holiday celebrations and the end of a successful semester, we
turn our focus to preparing for the upcoming year. 2023 has been an incredible year
of growth on all fronts for First Tee – Puerto Rico. We’ve welcomed new participants,
staff, and supporters who are each essential to our success and our ability to
continue spreading access to the game of golf and its valuable lessons in Puerto Rico
in 2024 and beyond. Building a good team for a young First Tee Chapter while offering
inclusive, consistent, quality golf programming is almost as rewarding as making a
hole-in-one.
INTRO
TEEING OFF INTO A REMARKABLE YEAR!

4. In the past semester at TPC Dorado Beach Golf Club, our expansion efforts have
borne fruit beyond our wildest dreams. We embarked on an exciting journey,
extending our age requirements to include the youngest golf enthusiasts at the
tender ages of 5 and 6. This move has opened new doors for us, promoting
inclusivity, and sparking the enthusiasm of younger siblings of our existing
participants. We introduced a rolling admissions process, ensuring that joining our
program remains as seamless as ever. This adaptability has been pivotal in
integrating new participants and expanding our First Tee family.
We didn't stop there. Collaboration with Club Management became the catalyst for
a golfing revolution. We gained access to hitherto unexplored locations on Dorado
Beach Golf Course including the Driving Range and 2 par 4 holes. These additions
have enriched our golf programming, honing the necessary skills for the game.
Parents and our new coaching staff become an integral part of the First Tee
journey, fueling participant retention and an ever-deepening immersion in the
world of golf.

8. PALMAS DEL MAR - HUMACAO
HUMACAO HORIZONS: WHERE DREAMS TAKE FLIGHT
Exciting Expansion Plans:
After much anticipation, we will be launching On the Course Programming in
Humacao on the 17th of January! Classes will be held on Wednesdays and will be led
by Palmas Athletic Club Golfers Jan Ortiz and Denise di Brito. We will be welcoming
participants between the ages of 5 and 18 of all skill levels, no prior experience is
required. Inscriptions are open on our site
We will be promoting our program in high-traffic locations in Humacao and during
the Lechon Open at Palmas del Mar on the 13th of January. We also hope to host a
Level 1 Coach Training led by a First Tee HQ certified trainer for all of our new staff
during Q1 of 2024, as part of our commitment to advancing our coaches through the
First Tee Training Pathway.

HUMACAO HORIZONS: WHERE DREAMS TAKE FLIGHT
We want to introduce the First Tee program into youth organizations and schools all
over Puerto Rico. This program is specially designed for kids and teens and provides
opportunities for physical education classes and other youth-serving groups. This
program will positively impact Puerto Rican youth by providing a unique experience
that develops character and prepares them for life. In 2023 we have focused on
piloting programs with two community schools. We have also internally translated
and adapted the training program for school and partner community organization
staff to fit the needs of a primarily Spanish-speaking demographic unfamiliar with the
game of golf.
During 2023 we have focused on making the training materials for this type of
programming available in Spanish with the purpose of making the content more
accessible to teachers and staff in other youth development organizations. We will be
piloting the Spanish content with our first two partners, Vimenti School in Carolina and
Escuela Casino Cepeda in Rio Grande.

13. Launch School and Community Programs:
We want to introduce the First Tee program into youth organizations and schools
all over Puerto Rico. As participants from the School and community Programs
progress, we must be also able to provide those interested with the option of
attending On the Golf Course Programming within a reasonable distance from
their school or home municipality. There, they can continue building their skills
among a diverse group of kids and with more personalized attention from golf
professionals and staff dedicated to learning their needs and interests. Our
trained coaches not only work alongside them to enhance golf skills, but they
also create a safe, supportive, and empowering environment to help participants
prepare for life ahead, including friendships, school, college and even their
careers. First Tee – Puerto Rico provides mentorship, playtime on the golf course,
and other curriculum-related activities to participants.

14. Develop our Coaches:
As First Tee – Puerto Rico grows, so has its staff. We have been fortunate enough to have
started with a small but mighty team, dedicated to the mission of teaching kids golf and
the values intrinsic to the game. To continue delivering quality services to kids from
diverse backgrounds and with a diversity of functional needs, our team needs to access
professional development and educational opportunities. Aside from First Tee Coach
Training and SafeSport, our staff must also receive additional training to best serve
participants with special needs. Our goal is to have an HQ-certified trainer in 2024.

We have already witnessed great potential in our participants in Dorado, which we
cannot ignore. This is why we are on a mission to set aside funds to offer individual,
professional golf training to promising students without the means to fund private
classes themselves.
