This document discusses first and second conditional sentences in English. First conditional sentences use "if" clauses in the present simple tense followed by future simple tense consequences. Examples given are "If I receive a gift for Christmas, I will be happy" and "If you steal money, you will go to jail." Second conditional sentences use "if" clauses in the past simple tense followed by future in the past consequences, such as "If I were Bill Gates, I would have 4 planes" and "If dolphins could talk, we would learn a lot about them."
