thoughts in the audiences’ mind to
what this will proceed too.

man, standing above, whispering in the
ear of the woman who is below him.
The use of levels in this shot, the man
being above the Woman, converses
with norms of society then- Men being
dominant and more in control.
However, the shot is more focused on
the face of the woman who seems
unfazed inferring he’s come down to
her level, subverting the norms of male
dominance.

blood, furthermore representing the pain felt by
living in constant fear and secrecy that their same
sex, loving relationship will be uncovered.

6. This close up shot represents the
intensity of what’s happening,
recognised by the man having a tight
grip on her arm. The levels converse
with norms as the man is looking down
on the woman showing he has the
power and dominance within their
relationship.
This second shot then shows the man is
now shadowed by the woman who he
has sexual desires showing she has the
control emotionally and sexually. The
camera also pans down as the man
lowers and stops at her hand, in which
he is caressing- conversing with the
norms of sexual desire in the context of
that era.
