John Polimeno created Finding Rover, the first dog facial recognition software available as a mobile app, to help reunite lost dogs with their owners. The free iOS app allows users to take a photo of a lost dog and instantly identify it by matching its face to photos of missing dogs registered in the app's database. After being turned away by other developers, Polimeno partnered with the University of Utah to create the proprietary facial recognition technology, which can identify a dog from a photo within 10 seconds at 98% accuracy.
