This document summarizes an optimization of lighting in a classroom using DIALux software. The design objectives were to accurately model the existing room, run simulations to determine weak points, and find improved equipment. Preliminary work involved light distribution and material measurements. Issues encountered included difficulties modeling furniture and correlating gloss measurements. The final design replaced fluorescent fixtures with LED alternatives, increasing average brightness by 34% and improving light distribution, while achieving yearly cost savings.
