This document outlines a research task comparing coverage of the Diaoyu Islands dispute between China Daily News and the New York Times from October to December 2012. It involved analyzing 10 articles from the Times and 8 from China Daily News to compare their coverages and focuses. The conclusion found that China Daily News had a strong bias while the Times stayed objective, but both focused on political and economic relationships. The reason for the difference in perspectives was attributed to China Daily News being state-owned while the Times had no involvement in the events.
