Interface is the world's largest manufacturer of modular carpet. In 1994, Interface adopted a sustainability strategy called Mission Zero to eliminate waste from its operations and become restorative by 2020. Interface uses lean concepts and the "Seven Fronts of Mount Sustainability" to guide its sustainability efforts. One project reimagined the manufacturing process through lenses of sustainability and lean to create an on-demand system with benefits like waste reduction and increased use of renewable energy and recycled materials. Interface's focus on sustainability, lean thinking, and continuous improvement helps it work towards its Mission Zero goals.
