Mr. Haris Dedovic is the Executive Director of the Association for Media and Civil Society Development and Editor-in-Chief of Šatro.info, a regional online political satire magazine based in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina. Prior to his role at Šatro info, Mr. Dedovic was the Editor-in-Chief for the youth magazine Karike. During this time, his engagement with youth helped him implement more than 30 projects as the International Coordinator for Youth Press Association in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Most recently, Mr. Dedovic has utilized his media and digital marketing skills as a journalist for the United Nations Development Program and the Media Team Coordinator and Social Media Manager for the Council of Europe’s North-South Centre.

In addition to this, social networks such as Facebook and Instagram provide new spaces and ways to experience news consumption. publiSHIT magazine (The acronym SHIT stands for Stories, Happenings, Interviews, Thoughts) is an online outlet based in Thessaloniki which is inspired by crowdsourcing forms of Journalism. Readers are invited to experience participatory journalism. Thus, they become editors-in-chief, editors or storytellers. Facebook is the main platform for calls-to-action to the community. Maria-Manuela Catrina has a background in mathematics, computer science, cybernetics, as well as training in security and international relations. In the early 2000s, Ms Catrina had the first opportunity to join the high levels of government as advisor for the Romanian Prime Minister, after which she continued as parliamentary advisor for Romania’s Chamber of Deputies. Since 2013, she has been leading the Ovidiu Sincai European School, one of the Social Democratic Institute’s key projects, under the aegis of the Council of Europe. Since 2017, Ms Catrina has joined the executive branch as Secretary of State at the Romanian Ministry of Communications and Informational Society. Here, she has dedicated her time to steering the complex preparations for Romania’s upcoming Presidency of the Council of the European Union (Jan-Jun 2019). Her mandate includes broader aspects of international relations and European affairs, as well as more specialized areas, such as cybersecurity, AI and robotics. In addition to handling the numerous European legislative files stemming from EU’s Digital Agenda for Europe and representing Romania at the Transport, Telecommunications and Energy Council, she also coordinates a number of high level national groups tasked with ensuring the security and resilience of Romania’s IT and telecommunications infrastructure. Maria-Manuela Catrina began her political career in 1996 as a member of the Romanian Social Democratic Party (PSD). In 2000 she won the local elections to become City Councillor for Sibiu (RO). From 2010 to 2013 she led PSD’s Communication and Informational Society Department. Since September 2015, she has been leading PSD’s Social Democratic Women’s Organization (Bucharest branch), while also coordinating its training programmes at a national level.

She has a master’s degree in journalism and new media.
Online media seek to develop an interactive relationship with the members of their communities in order to enhance the transparency in civil society. As a result of that, new genres of Journalism such as Crowdsourcing Journalism emerge. Crowdsourcing Journalism offers new ways to engage readers. In addition to this, social networks such as Facebook and Instagram provide new spaces and ways to experience news consumption. publiSHIT magazine (The acronym SHIT stands for Stories, Happenings, Interviews, Thoughts) is an online outlet based in Thessaloniki which is inspired by crowdsourcing forms of Journalism. Readers are invited to experience participatory journalism. Thus, they become editors-in-chief, editors or storytellers. Facebook is the main platform for calls-to-action to the community. During this 15 minute talk, I will present the project and the results of people’s engagement to the project.

In his previous role as Chief Product Officer at Storyful, he was responsible for the vision and delivery of over 20 innovative journalism products to 150 of the world’s biggest media organizations. Mr. Thomas has worked on media development projects in over 50 countries worldwide. The Role of Education in Reducing the Digital Gap by Maria-Manuela Catrina
Maria-Manuela Catrina has a background in mathematics, computer science, cybernetics, as well as training in security and international relations. In the early 2000s, Ms Catrina had the first opportunity to join the high levels of government as advisor for the Romanian Prime Minister, after which she continued as parliamentary advisor for Romania’s Chamber of Deputies. Since 2013, she has been leading the Ovidiu Sincai European School, one of the Social Democratic Institute’s key projects, under the aegis of the Council of Europe. Since 2017, Ms Catrina has joined the executive branch as Secretary of State at the Romanian Ministry of Communications and Informational Society. Here, she has dedicated her time to steering the complex preparations for Romania’s upcoming Presidency of the Council of the European Union (Jan-Jun 2019). Her mandate includes broader aspects of international relations and European affairs, as well as more specialized areas, such as cybersecurity, AI and robotics. In addition to handling the numerous European legislative files stemming from EU’s Digital Agenda for Europe and representing Romania at the Transport, Telecommunications and Energy Council, she also coordinates a number of high level national groups tasked with ensuring the security and resilience of Romania’s IT and telecommunications infrastructure. Maria-Manuela Catrina began her political career in 1996 as a member of the Romanian Social Democratic Party (PSD). In 2000 she won the local elections to become City Councillor for Sibiu (RO). From 2010 to 2013 she led PSD’s Communication and Informational Society Department. Since September 2015, she has been leading PSD’s Social Democratic Women’s Organization (Bucharest branch), while also coordinating its training programmes at a national level.

Ms. Toom presented on “Digital Influencers” and their importance within the digital framework, especially in ensuring government accountability and transparency. In this presentation, Ms. Toom focused on providing participants with tools to engage target groups through augmenting leadership skills, developing presentation skills, and building trust and transparency.
Blockchain technology for e-governance by Dzmitry Markusheuski
Mr. Dzmitry Markusheuski is the Academic Director at the Public Administration Research Center SYMPA where he manages the educational programs in cooperation with SIPU International/FCG Sweden and investigates the outcomes of reforms in post-Soviet countries. Mr. Markusheuski has been a consultant, advisor, and project manager for international donors and organizations, including the United Nations and European Union. Mr. Markusheuski has contributed to a number of research papers and policy papers, including the National Sustainable Development Strategy. Mr. Markusheuski has participated in the International Visitor Leadership Program on Transparency and Accountability and in the UNDP Programme for Democratisation, Human Rights and Civil Society Development in Ukraine, Moldova, and Belarus.

EED - The Container Port PERFORMANCE INDEX 2023
El Puerto de Algeciras continúa un año más como el más eficiente del continente europeo y vuelve a situarse en el “top ten” mundial, según el informe The Container Port Performance Index 2023 (CPPI), elaborado por el Banco Mundial y la consultora S&P Global.
El informe CPPI utiliza dos enfoques metodológicos diferentes para calcular la clasificación del índice: uno administrativo o técnico y otro estadístico, basado en análisis factorial (FA). Según los autores, esta dualidad pretende asegurar una clasificación que refleje con precisión el rendimiento real del puerto, a la vez que sea estadísticamente sólida. En esta edición del informe CPPI 2023, se han empleado los mismos enfoques metodológicos y se ha aplicado un método de agregación de clasificaciones para combinar los resultados de ambos enfoques y obtener una clasificación agregada.
