Mise-en-scene:
A montage happens at the
beginning with MTV to let the
audience know it is the 80s.
Ferris is very headstrong and
cheeky from his character. He is
also shown as spoilt who is
treated well by his parents. The
costume also highlights it with
the choice of hairstyle since this obviously is not 21st
century clothing
they are wearing.
How characters are introduced:
The establishing shot is of a town which shows a classic American
house in the suburbs. From the shot you can tell that Ferris is
obviously faking his illness. The fact that he is winking at his sister
while his parents aren’t facing him show that he is messing about. He
also breaks the forth wall since he speak directly to the audience.
This is mainly for comedy.
Title sequence:
Paramount is shown which infers to the audience who is part of
making this film. Blue title font with the sound of the radio which
also shows the era of music. The font is like bubble writing with
infers this is comedy. The name of the film is then shown.
