A young boy had a bad temper and would often get angry, scolding others including his friends and neighbors. His parents tried many ways to help him control his anger. Finally, his father came up with a plan where the boy had to hammer a nail into the fence every time he lost his temper. Over several days, the number of nails hammered decreased as the boy tried harder to control his anger. Eventually no more nails were hammered and the boy was able to remove most of them, though a few remained stuck in the fence, leaving holes as a reminder that angry words can permanently damage relationships.
