Indiana state park fees are increasing by $2 per vehicle and other fees are rising as well. Entrance fees for in-state vehicles will increase from $5 to $7 and for out-of-state vehicles from $7 to $9. Camping and room rates at state parks will also increase by $2-4. The fee increases, the first since 2006, are intended to help cover the rising operating costs of maintaining the parks.

2. Just when you thought it was safe to start having fun
again…Indiana State Park fees are rising by $2 per vehicle.

3. And, it doesn’t stop there – because a series of other price
increases also went into effect on Wednesday. Luckily, the
state isn’t in charge of your auto insurance.

4. In fairness, the Indiana Department of Natural Resources says the
increases, which are the first fee overhaul since 2006, is in response
to the parks’ rising operating costs.

5. Below are some of those fee changes:
• Entrance fees will increase from the current $5 to $7 per in-state
registered vehicle and from $7 to $9 for out-of-state vehicles at most
state parks and at three state recreational areas with gated entrances.
• Out-of-state admission to Indiana Dunes State Park will go up from $10
to $12,
• Most camping sites will rise by $4 and rooms at the state park inns will
do so by $2. Meanwhile, state forest primitive camping will increase by
$2.
• Annual passes will go from the current $40 to $50.
• Annual motorized boat launch permits will rise from $22 to $25.

6. Other considered changes, from mountain bike permits to
equestrian fees, would go into effect July 1, 2015 or
November 1, 2015, pending their approval by the state’s
Natural Resources Commission.

7. After all, the increases are more than fair to keep Indiana
state parks open and beautiful for everyone to enjoy. So,
