Commissary Shopping Cart Demo Slides
The document discusses the success of eCommDirect, a service launched 10 months prior that allows friends and family of incarcerated individuals to purchase commissary items and make deposits to inmate trust funds online. In the first 10 months, nearly 50% of eligible inmates received a commissary item or deposit through eCommDirect, resulting in over 192,000 transactions totaling $8.8 million processed securely. Over $4.9 million of commissary goods purchased through eCommDirect would not have otherwise been bought. The service allows users to search for items, build shopping carts, and make secure payments with credit cards to deliver funds and goods to inmates of the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.
