The document is a February 2011 newsletter from the Zeta Theta chapter of Kappa Alpha Theta at Cal Poly. [1] It discusses several events the sorority held that month, including a winter semi-formal, awarding scholarships to members, an etiquette presentation, revealing new big-little sister pairs, a Valentine's day cupcake decorating event, and an exchange with Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity. [2] It also announces upcoming events like initiation and participating in Greek Week. [3]
Our mission is to present a festival of the highest artistic caliber while maintaining a dedication to a variety of musical and artistic influences. Classical/Pops embraces the notion that music is permeable to outside influence and therefore endlessly in flux. We’ll remain committed to changing with the times and being a signpost of innovation. We want more audiences to embrace this dynamic artistry that, for many young listeners, hasn’t always been relevant.
My sister, Pat Kelley, peacefully passed on Sunday afternoon, November 17, 2013 with family members at her side. The following pages give a brief overview of her full and amazing life on earth.

Wellness G.I.F.T.S. Inc.is a 501(c) (3) non-profit organization that offers camping retreats to families who have a family member with developmental disabilities, living at home with their parents or caregivers. Respite, Recreation, and Rejuvenation are the three ‘R’s we strive to achieve. Our families enjoy a weekend camping resort experience in a same family friendly, atmosphere. Wellness G.I.F.T.S. Inc. provides a catered breakfast, lunch, and dinner for the families throughout the retreat. In the welcome bag that we give to families upon arriving are T-shirts that help our volunteers and staff (who also wear specific shirts) distinguish our campers from Hickory Hill Family Camping Resort campers.
Unlike many other camp programs, whose focus is primarily on the family member with a disability, Wellness G.I.F.T.S. Inc. focuses on the family unit. The idea is to take a holistic approach to strengthen families by offering education, respite, and networking opportunities. The connections and friends made during the family’s stay have a lasting positive influence when the family returns home. We understand that stronger families create stronger communities.

Hadj Ounis's most notable work is his sculpture titled "Metamorphosis." This piece showcases Ounis's mastery of form and texture, as he seamlessly combines metal and wood to create a dynamic and visually striking composition. The juxtaposition of the two materials creates a sense of tension and harmony, inviting viewers to contemplate the relationship between nature and industry.

Winter Semi-Formal z
On February 5th, Kappa Alpha Theta hosted its
annual Winter Semi-Formal Party where each
member brings a date of her choice. This year,
Semi-Formal was held at a fabulous venue, the
Spyglass Inn in Pismo Beach. Pictured to the
right are a few Zeta Theta Seniors who attended
the event. (From left to right: Nicole Hoffman,
Amy Scott, Jackie Lauver, Caitlin Rosenberg,
Grace D’Amico, Leilani Wu, Brenna Pringle, and
Kami Tiano.)
Scholarship Recipients!
Each year the Zeta Theta Alumnae Association awards financial scholarships to active members of Zeta
Theta who demonstrate considerable contributions to the chapter. I am pleased to announce that the
following members received scholarships: Candie Fujisaki, Kristen Patterson, Stephanie Shaffer, Victoria
Francis, Erin Canino, and Brenna Corrick.
2. What We’ve Been Up To
Prim and Proper:
Panhellenic’s Etiquette Presentation
This February we were transported back to an era of higher civility
when “manners actually mattered.” We were instructed in proper
etiquette beyond proper dinner manners by Anita Shower, also
known as “Miss Etiquette,” a self proclaimed etiquette expert and
newspaper columnist for the SLO City News. The presentation was
sponsored by the Panhellenic Association. Although the advice was
a bit old fashioned, we appreciated Shower’s deadpan wit and
valuable tips.
“Big-Little Week...We Want You In Our Family!”
Theta’s newest members had a blast at Revealing
Through the course of a new member’s pledge period, she gets a “big”--a big sister who is a member of a higher
pledge class. The relationship between big and little is particularly special because the big sister acts as a mentor and
a role model in addition to being a close friend. The new big-little pairs are as follows: Kelly Doyle and Adriana
Hidalgo, Sydney Lane and Angela Accomazzo, Jessi Grant and Christia Brockman, Cate Mitchell and Stacy
Shannon, and Megan Qvistgaard and Lauren Feuerborn.
3. Bonding Through Sisterhood
Go, Kite, Win!
Thetas came out in numbers at Greek Goblet ’11
The first sisterhood was “Greek Goblet” at the Men’s Basketball
Game. “Greek Goblet” is similar to the sisterhood we had last
month except that it also doubles as a competition in which the
Panhellenic sorority with the most girls in attendance at the game
was awarded $500 to their national philanthropy. Unfortunately,
Kappa Alpha Theta got second place after Chi Omega.
Nonetheless, we all had fun making signs, and cheering as loud as
we could. That night the Mustangs beat their arch-rivals the UC
Davis Aggies 65-56.
Showing some Theta Love:
Strengthening our Sisterhood on Valentine’s Day!
Everyone has an opinion about Valentine’s Day: some people, presumably
enjoying a blissful relationship with their significant other, relish in the gift
giving and the elaborately planned romantic gesture (think champagne
and Godiva chocolates) Other bitter singles like myself prefer to write off
the “holiday” as a conspiracy, carefully plotted by the executives at
Hallmark. Thankfully, Theta hosted a Valentine’s Day sisterhood activity
to distract me from the dearth of red roses I received this fourteenth day of
February. At the event, Zeta Thetas unleashed their inner Martha Stewarts
in decorating delectable cupcakes. We also did “speed dating” which
helped us to become better acquainted with the newer members. As for the
members we already knew all too well, “speed dating” enabled us to spend
a little time together and share some Theta Love!
4. Exchanges
