Bracelets - A Fashionable Item for Any Gender
People wear accessories to beautify their character. Accessories are very popular today that you Share
can see them in every corner. They are made in any material people can find, and some even have
taken it in an environmental friendly manner to help preserve the ecosystem of the planet.
Expensive accessories are worn by those who have enough money to spare, most of the time by
the wealthy. Most of the time they wear accessories to denote their status in society or simply to
show people that they mean business. One of the most popular accessories people is fond of
being the bracelets. This accessory can be worn by anyone and has a different meaning from each
person. Today people prefer to wear this as a means of fashion whether they are male or female.
Others find inspiration wearing charms around their wrist to feel that they are safe. There are those
who wear this accessory to show their bonds of friendship or sometimes a group that they belong
to.

The earliest bracelet in history was during the pre-historic period. Unlike today the bracelets of that
time were made animal bones, clay and shells. They are used as charms for protection against
their enemies. In later times the charms they have are made out of wood, rocks and gems.
Evidences show that in Africa the shells functioned as adornments about 75 thousand years ago.
About 30 thousand years ago in Germany the tusk of the mammoth was intricately carved into a
charm. Ancient Egypt has this accessory tradition and are worn mostly by the Pharaohs. They were
not only believed to bring luck and protection but it is believed that they lavishly prepare a lot of
jewelries during their life because they live short lives. So they prepare a lot of charms to bring with
them to the grave which is also an indication to the gods what their position or status will be in the
afterlife. Christians around the Roman era wear fish charms as an identification to others who are
Christians as well.

2. The fashion trend of wearing bracelets came about around the 1880s by a prominent jewelry
merchant store. The first charm bracelet they sold during that time has become an iconic symbol
for their store today. Between 1920 and 1930 diamond and platinum charms were introduced for
manufacturing. After WWII the soldiers that were returning home brought trinkets with them that
were created by local craftsmen. Teenagers in the America around 1950 collected various charms
as a proof of the events that happened in their lives. Two screen icons made this kind of gesture of
making a charm bracelet very popular.
The increasing popularity of wearing bracelets with different styles emerged in the year 2000 until
today. In one movie hit were they featured armlets with dangling skulls, swords and crosses
became a fashion trend among the teens during the winter of 2006. Since the demand of the
masses increased, there was also a demand for lower prices.
