The document concludes with a case study on how Rice University developed donor segments emphasizing pride, professional networking, and the purpose of donated funds.
Data Driven Alumni Communications: The Method to the MadnessConverge Consulting
Colleges are better at managing relationships with Champions than they are with Acquaintances. The study identified three segments of alumni - Champions, Friends, and Acquaintances - based on their attitudes and motivations toward giving. Champions are the most important segment for colleges to target as they donate the most frequently and make the largest donations. While colleges have had some success with Champions, they ineffectively manage the large Acquaintances segment and waste resources contacting them as much as the other segments. Effective alumni communications require research-based segmentation, personalized messaging tailored to each segment's motivations, and continuous testing and evaluation of communication strategies.

Howard University set an ambitious goal of raising $250 million for its capital campaign, the largest in the school's history. Through strategic planning and outreach, Howard surpassed its goal by raising $272 million. The campaign's success demonstrated innovative fundraising practices that other historically black colleges and universities could learn from. Howard plans to publish a report detailing lessons from the campaign to help other HBCUs improve their own fundraising efforts. The campaign established Howard as a leader in capital fundraising among HBCUs and positioned it for an even more ambitious $1 billion campaign in the future.
Shaking the money tree, making the most of financial resources for international students. Presentation at the NAFSA Region X Conference by Jennifer Frankel (Envisage International) and Ruth Kamona (The City University of New York)
The document provides a framework for building community support for global education. It recommends convincing others of why global skills are important locally, what quality global education provides, how it can be implemented, and who should be involved. It suggests defining the necessary global skills for the community and determining specific programs and policies to develop these skills in students. Finally, it advises building vertical support among teachers, leaders, and state officials and horizontal support across other schools, businesses, foundations and higher education institutions.

This document argues that Duke University should grow its Latino/a scholarship program to attract talented Latino students and promote diversity. It notes that the Latino population and purchasing power are growing rapidly in the US. While Latino admission rates still lag at top universities like Duke, such a scholarship could help Duke compete for top Latino talent and expose all students to diverse perspectives. The existing scholarship has already raised over $100,000 and provides benefits like community-building, mentorship opportunities, and promoting success from the Hispanic community.
This document outlines the objectives and content of a cross-cultural training program. The program aims to help participants understand different cultures and navigate intercultural interactions. It seeks to provide knowledge about cultural values, beliefs, and norms. The full training contains over 150 slides on various topics related to understanding differences between cultures.
Higher education has faced steady declines in alumni participation percentages over the last several decades. While crowdfunding has transformed the philanthropic landscape, many wonder if it is just a passing trend. Attendees will learn how UMBC's annual giving program is using crowdfunding as an alternate way of engaging students with the process of fundraising - moving beyond one-time project campaigns to engage prospective donors and achieve sustained donor engagement.

Friend Raising For Dollars: Applying Metrics to Alumni Programs - Case V - De...Timothy State
Quantifying the results of an alumni program can be a challenge. How do you know you are drawing the alumni who will most likely be tomorrow's donor? This session will explore applying consumer marketing principles to every program from cocktail parties to reunions Learn how to benchmark against your own institution to identify areas of growth and opportunity that will give you the greatest return on investment that will eventually add to the bottom line.
The document lists over 30 scholarship and internship opportunities for high school students in the Los Angeles area. The scholarships cover a wide range of topics including education, immigration, STEM, arts, and underserved communities. The internships are in fields like tourism, media, healthcare, government, and non-profits. This document discusses the implications of massification in higher education institutions for identifying and retaining intellectual talent. It notes the trends of increased access through a "willing buyer, willing seller" approach and the resulting lack of guarantee that intellectually gifted students will gain admission or feel supported if they do. Managerialism both causes and aims to solve the issues of massification but can detract from supporting minority gifted students. The document argues gifted students need special academic and social support to thrive, noting common myths about such students and why support is needed given their asynchronous development and sensitivity. It proposes strategies are needed for talent development rather than leaving it to chance.

Underprivileged youth from lower-income communities face tremendous pressure and difficulties in order to achieve academic and career success. As the achievement gap continues to increase, we risk that more youth will be left behind.
We utilize studying abroad as a tool for youth empowerment and professional development. Our goal is to give underprivileged high school students from low-income communities a foundation and supportive network that inspires them to pursue their future goals and passions.

Writing and Rhetoric in the Field of Study Abroad Outreach and AdvocacyJennifer Dodge
This Disciplinary Report focuses on the types of rhetoric used by three major sectors of study abroad outreach and advocacy, a field in which I am interested in building a career: Program Providers, Advocacy Organizations, and University Departments. Close attention is paid to the persuasive appeals of Pathos, Ethos, and Logos within certain sectors, as they vary in importance and application, depending on the audience. Furthermore, the role of social media has become increasingly important in the field, and much of the report documents the growing need for writers to organize and manage the content strategy of all communications and discourse representative of the sector.
This document summarizes Aisha Azimi's experience interning for two organizations, Partners of the Americas and Plan International. She gained experience in communications, campaign development, and nonprofit work while interning and learned about increasing access to education in the Americas. The internships reinforced her passions for gender equality, women's empowerment, and education. She enjoyed interacting with participants in the Global Women in Management workshop and learning from their experiences as activists and entrepreneurs.
The document discusses graduation rates in the United States and globally. While US graduation rates for associates and bachelor's degrees have declined and lag behind some other nations, the US still ranks highly in total percentage of citizens with degrees. Some argue graduation rates are an imperfect metric and quality of education should be the focus. The document advocates viewing graduation issues from a perspective of global citizenship, with countries collaborating to improve rates and celebrate each other's successes.

- 92% of middle school students say they will attend college but only 32% know the high school classes required to do so.
- 29% of young Californians lack a high school diploma.
- High school dropouts will earn $462,000 less over their lifetime and cost the US $192 billion annually.
- Disconnecting from school often begins in middle school and career development programs in middle school can help improve academic performance and high school completion rates.

Impact of International Student Enrollment on US Gross Domestic ProductDr. Amarjeet Singh
The goal of this paper is to analyze the impact of international student enrollments on the US real gross domestic product. It is hypothesized that an increase in international student enrollment tends to have a positive impact on US real gross domestic product. It is also hypothesized that an increase in economic impact of international students has a positive impact on the US real gross domestic product. A regression model is formulated that consists of percentage increase in real gross domestic product (economic growth rate) as the dependent variable. The independent variables used in the regression model are annual percentage increase in international student enrollments in the US and the annual percentage increase in economic impact of the international students in the US. Data is collected from 2009 to 2015 from the Bureau of Economic Analysis and NAFSA. It is important to analyze the rationale as to why highly skilled immigration is vital for promotion of entrepreneurship and innovation in the US economy. The current administration is trying to undermine the positive impact of highly skilled immigration on the US economy. The issue is critically important in the prevailing political climate in the US economy. An attempt is also made to formulate strategies that would help in mitigating negative outcomes such as potential declines in revenues for US universities as well as decline in research and grant funding that would arise due to decrease in international student enrolments.

International students make up a significant portion of university populations in the United States, with over 1 million enrolled. However, international students can sometimes feel overlooked due to cultural and language differences. It is important for universities to support international students and help them adjust to life in a new country while pursuing their educational goals. Improving relationships and inclusion for international students can benefit both the students and the universities.

The Importance Of International StudentsErin Torres
The document discusses the benefits of international students studying in the United States. It notes that international students make up around 4.2% of total students in the US and their numbers have nearly doubled over the past two decades. The top reasons international students choose to study in the US are the reputation for quality higher education programs and the ability to study a wide range of subjects. However, international students also face challenges adjusting to a new culture and language barriers. Universities and communities benefit economically from international tuition dollars and greater diversity on campus.
