1. FAMO is the leading manufacturer of office furniture in Portugal. Founded in 1947 by the Moura family, it started as a steel factory making
bespoke items for the local business. Still today, with over 200 employees and many high profile clients in various locations around the world,
Famo factory still retains a very flexible set up that allows us to make both standard and highly bespoke products easily and cost effectively.
We actively encourage the collaboration with designers and architects for the development of bespoke items, so that in turn we learn about the
changes of the office environment. In this respect we’d say that our ranges undergo a continuous natural evolution that is initiated by the
designers themselves.
Famo pride itself in the production of every component that is used in making our furniture; we have both a wood and a steel factory and we
only source raw materials. Famo is ISO14001 compliant and our furniture has been installed in buildings that have received LEED Gold and
BREEAM Excellent certification (Orona, San Sebastian’s Technology Park, Bilbao , 2014).
Famo has entered the UK market in late 2013 and we operate from a showroom in Clerkenwell; we have recently won the global account for
the Regus “Third Space” and we are manufacturing highly specialised furniture items that offer new solutions to the changing office space.

THE THIRD SPACE
Regus has addressed the surging demand for more productive ways of working on the move by creating the world
first network of “Third Space” hubs. Mobile workers can drop-in to any of the ‘Regus Express’ hubs to meet clients
or suppliers in a professional setting, or to work in peace and quiet between their meetings.
The facilities available at the hubs include Wi-Fi, docking stations, business lounges and meeting rooms. It is the
most extensive use yet of the Regus approach to ‘Third Spaces’ which has so far has also included the provision of
facilities at Shell service stations on the auto routes around Paris, stations on the Dutch rail network, and certain
UK branches of Staples.
Third Space concept is catching on in all sorts of places; airports worldwide, UK Extra Motorway service stations,
French SNCF railway stations and more Dutch NS stations. You’ll see them popping up at Swiss railway stations in
the months ahead as well.
Famo UK was initially approached by Regus to develop a catalogue of over 30 bespoke products (from business
stations to concierge desks, working pods and soft seating). This allows any of the Regus Express hub in the world
to pick and mix the products according to their individual needs and space available.
