Massimo Sarmi: 5 maggio Poste festeggia i 150 anniPosteItaliane
Abstract
Generation Z is born and raised with the social web, they are digital centric and technology is their identity. This generation will be entering in the companies in the coming years but little is known of this generation about their characteristics, needs, attributes and work style. They seem to have different attitudes towards work then the previous generations. Without proper understanding of this generation, organizations will find difficulties to hire and retain them for the sustainable growth of the organizations. By understanding them, the companies can determine what can impact their recruitment and retention success through paying attention to what this generation tick in the workplace. This paper examines the characteristics and preferences of the Generation Z from the existing literature so that organizations can foresee and build work place suitable for them which in turn will impact the organizational performances.
Keywords: Generation Z, Characteristics, Preferences, Workplace.
I invite you to truly connect with your young children or grandchildren, enjoy them and rekindle some of those great childlike principles back into your life!

registration sticker etc.
• When Dad is in a bad mood, he often sits
on the couch a flicks through the TV
channels. The best thing to do is keep at a
safe distance, and let him have some
privacy.
4. My Mum
• Character: Funny, strict, LOVES
CHOCOLATE.
• Hobbies: Singing loudly along with the iPod,
Facebook.
• Happy: Give her some chocolate.
5. My Mum (cont.)
• I’m in trouble when I don’t keep my room
tidy, or when I don’t complete my chores
before I take a rest.
• When my Mum is in a bad mood, she will
either go to visit her friends or sit at her
desk on Facebook for HOURS. The best
thing to do is steer clear of her for 2-3
hours.

her room, touch one of her toys/animals or
pack up the LEGO when she had built
something “amazing”.
• When she is in a bad mood, she’ll go into
her room and lie on her bed. Just leave her
alone for a while, and she’ll be fine.

LOVES CRICKET.

he scores a try, he tackles someone 5 times
bigger than him.
9. Lachie (cont.)
• Lachie kicks, punches, bites, pinches, squirrel
grips and hits anything that he can reach
whenever he gets angry. This normally
happens when he doesn’t get his way (like
when he gets out, gets hit for six, gets
tackled or someone 5 times bigger than
him just tramples him. It’s best to stay out
of the firing range until he calms down.
10. What I like most about
my family.
• Dad: How much he loves his cricket.
• Mum: Her attempt at singing rock music.
• Phebe: Her “cool” way of talking to people.
• Lachie: His passion for cricket. Although it
does get annoying when I can’t find my kit...
