Peter Oeij published a collection of 72 photos titled "Faces from Places" featuring people he encountered during travels between 1984-2017 in countries including China, Ghana, Greece, Honduras, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Mexico, Peru, South Korea, Spain, Thailand, and Vietnam. The photos were taken with film and digital cameras and include both posed portraits and candid snapshots. They provide a glimpse into the diversity of people around the world.

Faces from Places
Over the years I have been travelling to many places on our beautiful globe. This book
contains a selection of 72 photos of Faces from Places. There is no particular idea of project
behind this publication, other than the desire to bring together the people of the world who
were caught by my lens.
The style of photography is casual. Several pictures are portraits. I do not ask persons to
model, but sometimes they do as soon as they see my camera. Sometimes I catch persons
unnoticed. These shots I like best, as they are natural.
The selection of photos stems from several countries: China, Ghana, Greece, Honduras,
India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Mexico, Peru, South-Korea, Spain, Thailand, Vietnam. I took them
between 1984 and 2017. The quality varies. In the nineties I used celluloid film rolls for my
Minolta and Canon cameras. I had these scanned to a digital format Since roughly 2002 I
have been using digital cameras made by Canon. These were never high-end cameras
though.
In the mentioned countries I traveled as a tourist or I was there for reasons of work, like
visiting a conference. Most photos are actually snapshots on the occasion when I was
passing by.
Peter Oeij
Peter Oeij is by profession a scientific researcher spending much of his freetime as an amateur
photographer. During his travels he caught many colourful persons with his lens. ‘Faces from places’ is
meant to share a selection of his pictures with others who are eager to see who crossed his path in
America, Asia, Africa and Europe.
