The City of Dania Beach announced on its Facebook page that it is demolishing the Hurricane roller coaster. The roller coaster was the tallest wooden amusement park ride in Florida, built in 2000 with over a million feet of lumber and 8 million pounds of concrete. It provided thrilling rides to the community until 2013 but has been closed and standing still on the side of the interstate since then. The 100-foot-tall timber structure is now being taken down. The post generated over 166,000 impressions and over 1,300 shares on Facebook.
