Ann Frank was born in Frankfurt, Germany in 1929. In 1934, her family fled Germany to escape Nazi persecution and settled in Amsterdam, Netherlands. In 1942, after restrictions against Jews increased, Ann and her family went into hiding in the secret annex of her father's business for over two years. However, in 1944 they were discovered by the Nazi police and transported to concentration camps. Anne died in Bergen-Belsen camp in 1945 at the age of 15, just before it was liberated.
