Un Nuevo Mundo As I placed the car into park, turned the key off and stepped into the crisp cold
winter air, I begin to feel my pulse raise. With each step we took drawing us closer to the door, I
felt my heart beating faster. With a quick turn of the ice cold door knob, I found myself standing in
a whole new world. The food, the music, the faces, the language, everything was different than what
I knew. For the first time in my life I was the minority in my small home town of Winamac, Indiana.
New Year's eve was the first time meeting my Hispanic boyfriend's family, of course I had taken a
few Spanish classes back in high school, but not even the most advanced class could have...show

I was hugging people I couldn't even speak to, but that didn't matter. There were no language
barriers for the shared symbolic meaning of a hug! After we all were done hugging was when the
real party began. I was out on the dance floor twirling and swinging all around, dancing to music I
couldn't even understand. I was having so much fun, we didn't stop till 5 a.m. . Celebrating the New
Yearwith people you don't know, let alone can barely communicate with seems absurd. Most
people would be quick to say no thank you, I believe that I too would have been that person to
turn down this opportunity if it weren't for it being my boyfriend's family. I am so thankful and
happy that I did get to experience this. I was scared and nervous at first, but this experience has
opened my eyes to so many more opportunities. This New Year's experience will be one that I will
never forget; it has intrigued me to learn much more about the Hispanic culture! Who knows maybe
a trip to Mexico could be in my

story that would make you uncomfortable to share. Everyone has stories to tell, but please peruse

How My Family Challenged My Identity
Growing up surrounded by idealized American values and my mother's traditional
Chinese–Vietnamese principles challenged my identity as a first–generation Asian American. I
excelled in school. I pushed myself to join programs such as Paideia, an English course integrated
with history to attain higher levels of critical thinking. Despite being academically independent, my
good grades and interest in English demonstrated how well I understood the language. Cantonese, the
language I used to communicate with my mom, was an entirely different story. Because my mother
would work night shifts and then sleep during the day, we could barely spend any time together,
creating a lack of communication. I eventually lost my fluency in Cantonese. During Christmas,

A Christmas to Remember
It's the most wonderful time of the year. Lights are shining brightly, and the snow was a white
blanket over the brown grass.(metaphor) It was December 24th and everyone was eager to start
their Christmas traditions. I especially was more than ready to begin my Christmas festivities. I grab
my boots and jacket and head out the door to my first destination. The two–hour drive to my grandma
and grandpas was no picnic.(metaphor) My family and I arrived just in time to begin the first of
many activities. Cousins, uncles, aunts, and family friends gather into the warm, cozy home.
Everyone was filled with cheer and joy. The first sight when we arrived was the beautiful, dazzling
Christmas tree that was like a statue of...show more content...

the door and whipped it open yelling "Merry Christmas Eve!" Everyone smiled greeting me with
warm hugs. The cheer in the room was out of this world. (metaphor) I have never seen so many
smiles. (Metaphor) Everyone already dug into the food, and even though I already ate, it was
calling my name. (personification) I proceeded to enjoy another Christmas dinner, but the night
was slipping away fast. We had to open presents as fast as lightning.(simile) One of my presents
was a beautiful santa ornament that glistened in the light. The smile on my face was a sight to be
seen.(metaphor) By far, this Christmas was already the best I have ever had. As my mom and I
said our goodbyes, my heart dropped to my stomach knowing Christmas Eve was over, but there
was still Christmas Day. The drive home was wonderful with Christmas lights shining as bright
as day.(smilie) Arriving home at 1 a.m. was truly torture.(metaphor) This is because making the
choice to either go to bed or stay awake until morning is the hardest decision of all time. I thought
it was a good idea to take a little nap. I curled up in bed a closed my eyes. There was a million things
going through my head,(hyperbole) making it hard to fall asleep. Soon my mind became blank.
Opening my eyes that morning was a piece of cake! I jumped out of bed and ran down stairs to
make breakfast.

Personal Narrative: I Found Myself
It was almost 3 years ago that I found myself in a rather strange dilemma. I was bored with
blogging and all the gimmicks that you had to do in order to be good at it. This concept did not
work for me. I wanted something that inspired creativity in me and in others. So I started
experimenting with posting cartoons, pop culture artwork, internet memes, and videos. Not only was
I having fun, I was learning to curate content. Another door that was opened was partnering with
artists who were animators, cartoonists, and illustrators. My friend Tim Engstrom created a custom
artwork for the header and the sidebar. It wasn't long before my clients, friends, and family were
reading the blog. What I learned was that this project was more than inspiration,

Narrative Essay About Having A Dream
Everyone has a dream. Whether it's small or big...we all have one. We also give up on them. We get
stuck in the idea that our ideas are too far–fetched either because of other people's comments or
because of our own self–doubt. We allow ourselves to forget about them and move on to things we
believe are better for us. To things that although don't make us happy, are what society tells us is the
right way to live. It's hard to have a dream and keep it. The world we live in today is so cruel that a
lot of times we don't even bother to dream anymore. We've gotten to the point where dreaming is just
that. A dream.
Yet, for my mom, that wasn't the case.
My mother was born on March 24, 1973, in a small village in Guatemala. She grew up there...show

She sat me down and said well why not do both. I remember when she said that I was so happy.
We began to think of how I could do both and came up with the idea of a singing lawyer. It was
probably the worst idea we've ever had. I don't even think it would have worked out well either, but
it was the fact that I could have done it and my mom would be completely okay with it and made it
seem perfectly normal that helped me to never quit on my dreams.
Her experience growing up wasn't at all how she made mine. Her mother and step father never
encouraged or supported her. Growing up my mother struggled a lot. She had to grow up a lot
faster than most kids and had to deal with the real world way before she should have had to. She
was never pushed to do better or told that her dreams could come true.
Since she was little she was always having to take care of her three sisters. She wasn't allowed to
go out a lot so she was always home studying or in her room. She was so restricted in her own home
that even now I can't imagine how terrible that must have felt. To constantly have to worry not only
about yourself but for other people when you haven't even reached puberty.
Her stepfather was the worst of all. He would always put her down and would try to make her feel
like nothing. She didn't even have protection from her own mother, because her mom would never
say anything about it. She just let it happen.

As times goes on you, realize life isn't all it seems to be. You learn life lessons and certain life
events teach you things that can lead to you improving yourself as a person. As you realize most
things in life are provided to you, you never truly realize how much everything can mean. As
teenagers most of us are immature and do not realize how easy it is for us to lose everything we
have. As we could lose everything and anything in a matter of seconds if we are not careful.

that night I was told of the trip. Next morning I woke up bright and early ate breakfast and we

that was interesting about the travel was the fact that during one of flights I was sat beside a drunk
idiot and then got moved up a few seats and got 3 seats all to myself! When we finally landed in
Pakistan it did not look anything different than in Canada. I thought "oh well maybe it looks the
same, and is the same" because personally I didn't know much about this place other than the fact
I had family here. When we got all our stuff and headed out in a car I noticed nothing different but
that might have been due to the fact I was kind of fatigued and the fact we were in a bigger city.
On the travel to my cousins I fell asleep, and didn't get woken up until we reached their house.
When I got out of the car I was too tired and was way to jetlagged to realize how different things
were so I went straight into the house and went back to bed.
I mostly slept for the whole first day. As I woke up by my family, they invited me to go out and try

At this point in my life I find myself in an interesting predicament regarding my attitudes toward
reading and writing; more so towards reading. Years ago I used to love reading books for pleasure
but nowadays I find myself reading things that little to no effort to digest. This includes the very
basic posts on facebook expressing one's opinion on something or articles and threads on reddit
discussing topics I find intriguing. Perhaps it's the severe senioritis that has overcome me as I
enter my last semester at Chapman University. As I've gotten lazier I can see it start to reflect in
my everyday life. Deep down I still love to read but I rarely find myself getting truly invested into
the action unless it relates to something I am very...show more content...
You can feed the mind as much as you want and it will never get full of reading. Sadly, I'm not the
same person that I was. I guess you could say it's part of growing up. It never really was
intentional but it's just the way how it ended up. On the other hand my attitudes toward writing
are very different. First let me say that deep down I truly do not like to write. I myself don't
personally like to write for leisure or pleasure but rather I write because I believe it is one of the
most important aspects of being able to communicate with those around you, both personally and
professionally. To put differently, my attitude towards writing is that I write because I need to
write and survive in the world around me. I write because I have to, not because I want to.
Hopefully this somewhat makes sense. To better explain let me make a comparison. When I am
assigned a writing assignment or I am writing because the action is being forced upon me I find
myself not enjoying the process and overall the end result is subpar. The perfect example of this
would be my junior year in high school when I was enrolled in AP english literature. I dreaded the
majority of the class simply because there was so much writing involved in the entire course and
therefore I was constantly writing just to get a grade. Being forced to write in such high volume
every week for an entire school year was not enjoyable for myself and as a result the

which is a class where students from my high school can go to the local elementary schools and

An Example of a Narrative Essay
–1Crystal D. Dozier Narrative Essay November 13, 2007 Word count: 809 My Little Blessings
Children have a tendency to bring out the very best in people. I can say I have been fortunate to
have four little blessings of my own. I consider each of them as a blessing and each day I am
reminded of how much they mean to me. My children have brought out the best in me––parts that I
never knew existed. As children grow, so do parents. I have evolved into a better person with the
courage to overcome all obstacles because of the love that I have for my children. At the age of
twenty, my life was full of constant turmoil and instability. I had a plan, and children were not a part
of it. I never imagined that I would ever have children....show more content...
Through the love for my son, I developed the ability to remain positive even during the most
difficult times in life. Although I gained the knowledge to be a more stable and positive
individual, something was still missing in my life. The missing piece soon fell into place upon
the birth of my twin boys, Irijah and Isaac. A multiple birth was a miracle within itself. It seemed
unreal because no one in my family was ever blessed with two babies. Although it took a lot of
adjustment, we made it through the baby period. The hard part did not come until they became
toddlers. (During this time), I noticed complications (in the development) (of the twins). I soon
learned that although they were perfect on the outside my boys were suffering with autism.
Irijah is severely autistic while Isaac's is mild. I knew that in order to conquer this obstacle,
changes would have to be made. In the beginning I was unaware of what needed to be done, but I
never gave up. I continue to fight for my boys and struggle to keep my sanity. This has been the
toughest fight of my life because it involves a series of changes. These changes dealt with
acceptance, transition, and adaptation. These were necessary steps because it gives the boys a
chance to lead a somewhat normal life. Through the love of my sons, I have learned to adapt to
change and have gained strength and perseverance that is necessary in life.

My Writing Experience Essay
Writing has always been my most difficult part of English. Reading, on the other hand, is
something I could do all day; however, with writing, I grimace just thinking about it. It was not
that I did not have anything to say, because I actually have quite a bit to say. I just could never
figure out how to phrase what I had to say in just right way on the page. My mom taught me to
read and write at a young age. After that, I would devour any book that I could get my hands on.
However, I have had trouble with writing since it became more than just my alphabet and numbers.

Mullins comments and said, "Next time, you will just have to change it up a bit." I asked her
what she meant. My mom said, "Next time you will make it more fun, not so much like a
timeline, and more like a true story about your subject." This was my first experience in writing
for a grade. I learned a lot and I immediately applied to my future written assignments. I was in
high school the first time I had to write a narrative. I was a freshman. This was Ms. Bradley's first
time teaching at Union Christian Academy. On her first day, she gave us our syllabus and said, "I
do not accept late work, especially on writing assignments." We, literally, sat there stunned. My
freshman class had it very easy during eighth grade year. We were not expecting this. As I looked
through the syllabus, I saw that our first assignment was due in a week and it was a narrative. At
this time, I did not even know what a narrative was. Ms. Bradley explained that a narrative was an
account or story of events. It could be either true or false. Our narrative had to be true. It had to be
a true account of something that happened to us over the summer. She wanted to gauge how are
writing skills were. Our narrative had to be at least two to two and a half pages long. I chose to
write my first ever narrative on my trip to Fort Worth, Texas. Once again, I was plagued with
writer's block. I had the story in my head, but everything I

Example Of A Narrative Essay College
A narrative essay is a story that is true and has meaning, whether it be to prove a point, send a
message, explain an event that's happened, or entertain the reader. Most narrative essays are
written to convey a story from a past time that sends a message to not only the reader, but the
writer themselves. When planning a narrative essay, the first step is to identify the topic in which
the writer wants to explain. There are multiple ways in which the you can come up with a topic, it
all depends on the style you're most comfortable with. The next step is to write down all the main
events that supports the topic you have chosen. What main events led up to the story you're trying to
approach? What key events made what your topic is all about?...show more content...
This event made a big impact on my life as it showed me the value of work ethic by showing me
that hard work pays off. It also taught me to never give up and follow your heart. And lastly, it
taught me the importance of a team to help me through the tough practices and mental battles. When
choosing my topic, I wrote down 3 main events that were important in my life that impacted me and
shaped myself into the person I am today. The 3 I chose were: breaking the 3200–meter record for
my school, breaking the 4x800 record with my team, and lastly, moving from Poinciana to
Kissimmee and leaving all my friends to take on a new chapter in my life. The topic I chose to

breaking the 4x800 record with my team was a memorable moment and the first record I'd ever
broken at my school, nothing compared to the feeling I got when I broke an individual record that
was held by my own coach. I had a sense of relief and happiness, not just for myself, but my coach
as well. It felt as if I didn't just break the record for the sake of me personally, but for him too. May
have taken 21 years to be broken, but I'd say it sure was worth

I woke to my body jittering with anxiety. It was 7 o'clock on a Saturday morning, and it was the
day that I had been awaiting for. I was almost ready when my Dad shouted '' Ya betta get ya'self
moving Kertesha, we're gonna be late!''.
I paused, and took one last look at myself in the mirror. My hair was scraped back, my polo necked
fleece was suffocating and itchy, my black ribbed jodhpurs were tight around my midriff, but there
was one thing missing. It was one thing which all the girls on the internet, in the movies, and in all
the equestrian magazines had – A gilet. Mine was a pink Abercrombie & Fitch one, with ribbed

Although the smell of the manure was strong, over time I began to appreciate it, and so it became
more of an aroma, than an odour. But this is something my Dad never seemed to get used, to let
alone appreciate. The entire stable had a rather odd smell; it was a mixture of hay, cut grass, dust,
manure, and oddly, a hint of leather. This was a smell which I soon became very fond of.
There were six of us in the group, we were all new to Dulwhich Riding School and filled with
enthusiasm. After being handed our riding hats, we were alphabetically permitted to choose a horse,
and as always, I was last in the alphabet. I was left with a choice of two, one was a blue roan filly.
She was a young slate coloured horse who reminded me of Eeyore (from Winnie the Pooh), and
was also a lot smaller than the other horses. Then I saw the attractive sorrel coloured gelding, he
stood glaring at me with his head poking out of the barn gate. His mane was dark and silky, and he
had a striking white birthmark on the bridge of his nose. I had an instant connection with him, and
proclaimed his name as Cashmere.
As I lead Cashmere towards the indoor riding arena, my heart raced. The inconsistent sound hoofs
trotting along the cobbled ground were intensifying. As I stroked Cashmere's muzzle and gave him a
mint polo (he's favourites), I began to mentally prepared myself to mount, and ride him.

what people are thinking of me like, does she have any friends, or she looks like a loner. I am
getting nervous and more nervous every second that passes. I decide I need to go straight to my
classroom, but I have no idea where to go. I finally make my way to my classroom, then I sit down,
and the bell rings. "The day is just beginning," I think to myself....show more content...
I am halfway through the day. After this long day it's still not over yet, I am just half way through
the day going into 5th period. As I walked in I see a girl I already met and I wanted to run and give
her a hug, I was so excited to see someone I already knew. I didn't have to worry where I was going
to sit that period, or who I was going to talk to. I probably looked like the happiest person in the
world with a big smile on my face. As I am smiling as I say, "hello, Claire right?" She says, "Yes!"
We sit together, exchange social media usernames, and numbers. Later, I go to 6th period, my
science class. When we come in the teacher says to talk with people to sit in alphabetical order. I
am placed next to a kid named Dominic Thomas, and his buddy is sitting on the other side of me.
They were acting like I didn't exist, and getting in my personal space. Later, the teacher says, "The
person sitting at your table will be your lab partner." That's when I found out Dominic Thomas will
be my lab partner for the quarter. I did not know what was coming for me. Finally, 7th period here I
come. Now this class was one crazy class, with some crazy people, but it was all good because I get
to leave after this period. The bell rings and I am out of there. Leaving school I am feeling many
emotions, I am happy to leave, excited to tell my mom about all I experienced that day,

Image nine resonates with me because it represents women "taking a seat at the table" in business
and I believe more women need to be at the table. The photograph showing a woman in the back
row reminds me of a theme from Sheryl Sandberg's book, Lean In, where she urges women to take a
seat at the table versus sitting on the side of the room. After graduating from Smith College, where I
was empowered by intellectually curious and ambitious women, and then transitioning to banking, a
male–dominated industry, I recognized early in my career how few women there were in executive
roles. As a career driven woman I became inspired to change the status quo and promote the career
advancement of women. In my professional career, I have taken several...show more content...
I learned that the bank sponsored employee led groups and I was passionate about creating a group
to support women since one did not exist. I formed and led a founding committee that was successful
in fulfilling the necessary requirements for approval and funding. These responsibilities included
creating a charter and bylaws, demonstrating firm–wide interest, and proposing future programming
to support our mission. After gaining approval and funding from human resources, our founding
committee secured Senator Kirsten Gillibrand to speak at the launch event. The launch for our
group was so popular that we had to a find a new venue to accommodate the 100+ employees who
wanted to attend. Next, we obtained the bank's chief technology officer as our executive sponsor, the
only female executive. After the launch, I went on to lead programming, which included organizing
"Lean In" circles for women at varying levels, a roundtable chat with our president & CEO, and
lunch & learns with our chief technology officer. Within the first year the group grew to over 100

  • 1. English 111 Narrative Paper Kaleigh Loehmer English 111 January 26, 2012 Un Nuevo Mundo As I placed the car into park, turned the key off and stepped into the crisp cold winter air, I begin to feel my pulse raise. With each step we took drawing us closer to the door, I felt my heart beating faster. With a quick turn of the ice cold door knob, I found myself standing in a whole new world. The food, the music, the faces, the language, everything was different than what I knew. For the first time in my life I was the minority in my small home town of Winamac, Indiana. New Year's eve was the first time meeting my Hispanic boyfriend's family, of course I had taken a few Spanish classes back in high school, but not even the most advanced class could have...show more content... After we all were done hugging was when the real party began. I was out on the dance floor twirling and swinging all around, dancing to music I couldn't even understand. I was having so much fun, we didn't stop till 5 a.m. . Celebrating the New Yearwith people you don't know, let alone can barely communicate with seems absurd. Most people would be quick to say no thank you, I believe that I too would have been that person to turn down this opportunity if it weren't for it being my boyfriend's family. I am so thankful and happy that I did get to experience this. I was scared and nervous at first, but this experience has opened my eyes to so many more opportunities. This New Year's experience will be one that I will never forget; it has intrigued me to learn much more about the Hispanic culture! • 3. How My Family Challenged My Identity Growing up surrounded by idealized American values and my mother's traditional Chinese–Vietnamese principles challenged my identity as a first–generation Asian American. I excelled in school. I pushed myself to join programs such as Paideia, an English course integrated with history to attain higher levels of critical thinking. Despite being academically independent, my good grades and interest in English demonstrated how well I understood the language. Cantonese, the language I used to communicate with my mom, was an entirely different story. Because my mother would work night shifts and then sleep during the day, we could barely spend any time together, creating a lack of communication. I eventually lost my fluency in Cantonese. The drive home was wonderful with Christmas lights shining as bright as day.(smilie) Arriving home at 1 a.m. was truly torture.(metaphor) This is because making the choice to either go to bed or stay awake until morning is the hardest decision of all time. I thought it was a good idea to take a little nap. I curled up in bed a closed my eyes. There was a million things going through my head,(hyperbole) making it hard to fall asleep. • 5. Personal Narrative: I Found Myself It was almost 3 years ago that I found myself in a rather strange dilemma. I was bored with blogging and all the gimmicks that you had to do in order to be good at it. This concept did not work for me. I wanted something that inspired creativity in me and in others. So I started experimenting with posting cartoons, pop culture artwork, internet memes, and videos. Not only was I having fun, I was learning to curate content. Another door that was opened was partnering with artists who were animators, cartoonists, and illustrators. My friend Tim Engstrom created a custom artwork for the header and the sidebar. It wasn't long before my clients, friends, and family were reading the blog. What I learned was that this project was more than inspiration, Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 6. Narrative Essay About Having A Dream Everyone has a dream. Whether it's small or big...we all have one. We also give up on them. We get stuck in the idea that our ideas are too far–fetched either because of other people's comments or because of our own self–doubt. We allow ourselves to forget about them and move on to things we believe are better for us. To things that although don't make us happy, are what society tells us is the right way to live. It's hard to have a dream and keep it. The world we live in today is so cruel that a lot of times we don't even bother to dream anymore. We've gotten to the point where dreaming is just that. A dream. Yet, for my mom, that wasn't the case. My mother was born on March 24, 1973, in a small village in Guatemala. She grew up there...show more content... She sat me down and said well why not do both. I remember when she said that I was so happy. We began to think of how I could do both and came up with the idea of a singing lawyer. It was probably the worst idea we've ever had. I don't even think it would have worked out well either, but it was the fact that I could have done it and my mom would be completely okay with it and made it seem perfectly normal that helped me to never quit on my dreams. Her experience growing up wasn't at all how she made mine. Her mother and step father never encouraged or supported her. Growing up my mother struggled a lot. She had to grow up a lot faster than most kids and had to deal with the real world way before she should have had to. She was never pushed to do better or told that her dreams could come true. Since she was little she was always having to take care of her three sisters. She wasn't allowed to go out a lot so she was always home studying or in her room. She was so restricted in her own home that even now I can't imagine how terrible that must have felt. To constantly have to worry not only about yourself but for other people when you haven't even reached puberty. Her stepfather was the worst of all. He would always put her down and would try to make her feel like nothing. She didn't even have protection from her own mother, because her mom would never say anything about it. She just let it happen. My mom Get more content on HelpWriting.net

You learn life lessons and certain life events teach you things that can lead to you improving yourself as a person. As you realize most things in life are provided to you, you never truly realize how much everything can mean. As teenagers most of us are immature and do not realize how easy it is for us to lose everything we have. As we could lose everything and anything in a matter of seconds if we are not careful. It was another typical Monday morning, I had that same feeling I always do when I wake up, dreadly having to get up, use the bathroom, and brush my teeth and get ready for school. The next week was a breeze and it comes down to the night before I had already packed all my stuff that night I was told of the trip. Next morning I woke up bright and early ate breakfast and we headed to the airport. The next few hours were mostly just traveling typical airplane food, only thing that was interesting about the travel was the fact that during one of flights I was sat beside a drunk idiot and then got moved up a few seats and got 3 seats all to myself! When we finally landed in Pakistan it did not look anything different than in Canada. I thought "oh well maybe it looks the same, and is the same" because personally I didn't know much about this place other than the fact I had family here. When we got all our stuff and headed out in a car I noticed nothing different but that might have been due to the fact I was kind of fatigued and the fact we were in a bigger city. On the travel to my cousins I fell asleep, and didn't get woken up until we reached their house. When I got out of the car I was too tired and was way to jetlagged to realize how different things were so I went straight into the house and went back to bed. I mostly slept for the whole first day. • 10. Literacy Narrative Essay example At this point in my life I find myself in an interesting predicament regarding my attitudes toward reading and writing; more so towards reading. Years ago I used to love reading books for pleasure but nowadays I find myself reading things that little to no effort to digest. This includes the very basic posts on facebook expressing one's opinion on something or articles and threads on reddit discussing topics I find intriguing. Perhaps it's the severe senioritis that has overcome me as I enter my last semester at Chapman University. As I've gotten lazier I can see it start to reflect in my everyday life. Deep down I still love to read but I rarely find myself getting truly invested into the action unless it relates to something I am very...show more content... You can feed the mind as much as you want and it will never get full of reading. Sadly, I'm not the same person that I was. I guess you could say it's part of growing up. It never really was intentional but it's just the way how it ended up. On the other hand my attitudes toward writing are very different. First let me say that deep down I truly do not like to write. I myself don't personally like to write for leisure or pleasure but rather I write because I believe it is one of the most important aspects of being able to communicate with those around you, both personally and professionally. To put differently, my attitude towards writing is that I write because I need to write and survive in the world around me. I write because I have to, not because I want to. Hopefully this somewhat makes sense. To better explain let me make a comparison. When I am assigned a writing assignment or I am writing because the action is being forced upon me I find myself not enjoying the process and overall the end result is subpar. The perfect example of this would be my junior year in high school when I was enrolled in AP english literature. I dreaded the majority of the class simply because there was so much writing involved in the entire course and therefore I was constantly writing just to get a grade. Being forced to write in such high volume every week for an entire school year was not enjoyable for myself and as a result the Get more content on HelpWriting.net

I always believed life took me where I wanted to go, I never thought that I was the one who took myself were I wanted to go. Once I entered high school I changed the way I thought. This is why I chose to go to college. I believe that college will give me the keys to unlock the doors of life. This way I can choose for myself where I go instead of someone choosing for me. I want to be a positive influence in the lives of children. I want to be able to stand up and show the children that it is okay to be yourself and stand up for what you believe in. I am a well round student. For nine years I was actively involved in a girls organization. This experience taught me many things. We were actively involved in community service activities, for which I received the Silver Award. ( The second highest award in the organization.) I learned about the value of friendship and patients with others. This organization first introduced me to my future career. I was also involved for three and a half years in a student government club on campus. In this club I learned many life lessons. One of which was the value of hard work. I was one of the few people that organized the Junior/Senior Prom of 2000. My responsibilities included planning corranation, buying and organizing decorations, planning the busing schedule, booking the photographers, fundraising, ect. This taught me about hard work. But the best part of it was going to Prom knowing I was one of the only reasons that it happened. As far as school goes, my schedule is very diverse. I am taking child development lab, which is a class where students from my high school can go to the local elementary schools and work one on one with the students. • 13. Example Of Narrative Essay Scary Story On a cold fall evening in the town of Dankfurt, Alaska with a small population of 73. There was a boy named Derek. Derek was just an ordinary boy who attended the school of Winterfield which was 10 miles away. He did this because his town had no school along with two other friends. Every morning he and his friends would wake up at five–thirty to walk to school. Because of the Alaskan time zones it was dark during the day and light at night. On their walk they would pass one house and one house only which was in the heart of the woods. It was a dark brown house with white curtains. The house was very old and looked to be falling apart. They assumed it was abandoned and thought nothing of it. But every time Derek walked passed he would get a minor headache not even recognizing...show more content... "screw you man" said the bully and walked away. After their hellish days at school the boys would head to the drama club. This is where they all fit in and thoroughly enjoyed attending the meetings. They were at these meetings until six–thirty or sunrise in Alaska at the time. The boys would stroll home and get back at about ten o'clock. They would do the same thing every day. Early one morning Derek's power went out and his alarm clock did not go off. The other boys waited for him but he did not show up so they assumed he was sick and left without him. A few hours later he woke up and realized he was late. He threw on his clothes and bolted out the door. Because of Alaska's time zone it was pitch dark when he started his journey. But he carried on his journey just like any Get more content on HelpWriting.net

I stand. Dumb and appalled at the sight. Hysterically I see her fall to her knees with complete lack of control as horrifically ear piercing screams protrude from deep within her lungs. The scene is dramatic, and I suddenly realise why these kinds of scenes are made slow in movies. There's just so much happening that your brain literally slows the world down, in the most unattractively possessive moments possible. In an instant, I find myself dragging myself back upstairs into my room, the dramatic atmosphere like in a movie surrounded me. I pull on my shoes and find myself then packing a bag. I wasn't sure what I was doing exactly, my body took control. I empty out my holiday savings into the bottom of my bag. Because, a girl like me doesn't own a purse or a handbag, or whatever you wanna call it. No, instead looking in the mirror, you can only tell I'm female by my long hair tied up messily in a tail like a horse. Curves are missing from my sides, as baggy tracksuits and jumpers replace it. I pull my backpack on, have one more look at myself and take off. Down the stairs I travel quietly, I grab my earphones and play my music. I pull the front door shut and locked. Then, I run. I don't exactly know where I'm to go. But I know I wanna go far. I don't know how to take a bus, or where it would even take me, but luckily enough a bus makes it to the bus stop on the top of the hill just as I arrive. I jump onto it and it takes me a few awkward moments to get the change out to pay, but it's not like anyone was on the bus in a rush anywhere, so it didn't really matter. Surprisingly enough, the bus driver wasn't so bad. I thought he'd ask questions but then again, he must see this kinda thing all the time. • 15. An Example of a Narrative Essay –1Crystal D. Dozier Narrative Essay November 13, 2007 Word count: 809 My Little Blessings Children have a tendency to bring out the very best in people. I can say I have been fortunate to have four little blessings of my own. I consider each of them as a blessing and each day I am reminded of how much they mean to me. My children have brought out the best in me––parts that I never knew existed. As children grow, so do parents. I have evolved into a better person with the courage to overcome all obstacles because of the love that I have for my children. At the age of twenty, my life was full of constant turmoil and instability. I had a plan, and children were not a part of it. I never imagined that I would ever have children....show more content... Through the love for my son, I developed the ability to remain positive even during the most difficult times in life. Although I gained the knowledge to be a more stable and positive individual, something was still missing in my life. The missing piece soon fell into place upon the birth of my twin boys, Irijah and Isaac. A multiple birth was a miracle within itself. It seemed unreal because no one in my family was ever blessed with two babies. Although it took a lot of adjustment, we made it through the baby period. The hard part did not come until they became toddlers. (During this time), I noticed complications (in the development) (of the twins). I soon learned that although they were perfect on the outside my boys were suffering with autism. Irijah is severely autistic while Isaac's is mild. I knew that in order to conquer this obstacle, changes would have to be made. In the beginning I was unaware of what needed to be done, but I never gave up. I continue to fight for my boys and struggle to keep my sanity. This has been the toughest fight of my life because it involves a series of changes. These changes dealt with acceptance, transition, and adaptation. These were necessary steps because it gives the boys a chance to lead a somewhat normal life. Through the love of my sons, I have learned to adapt to change and have gained strength and perseverance that is necessary in life. Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 16. My Writing Experience Essay Writing has always been my most difficult part of English. Reading, on the other hand, is something I could do all day; however, with writing, I grimace just thinking about it. It was not that I did not have anything to say, because I actually have quite a bit to say. I just could never figure out how to phrase what I had to say in just right way on the page. My mom taught me to read and write at a young age. After that, I would devour any book that I could get my hands on. However, I have had trouble with writing since it became more than just my alphabet and numbers. In elementary, I got through assignments by making my projects read like a boring fact book. This way was awesome for a high grade, not so great for writing interesting...show more content... Mullins comments and said, "Next time, you will just have to change it up a bit." I asked her what she meant. My mom said, "Next time you will make it more fun, not so much like a timeline, and more like a true story about your subject." This was my first experience in writing for a grade. I learned a lot and I immediately applied to my future written assignments. I was in high school the first time I had to write a narrative. I was a freshman. This was Ms. Bradley's first time teaching at Union Christian Academy. On her first day, she gave us our syllabus and said, "I do not accept late work, especially on writing assignments." We, literally, sat there stunned. My freshman class had it very easy during eighth grade year. We were not expecting this. As I looked through the syllabus, I saw that our first assignment was due in a week and it was a narrative. At this time, I did not even know what a narrative was. Ms. Bradley explained that a narrative was an account or story of events. It could be either true or false. Our narrative had to be true. It had to be a true account of something that happened to us over the summer. She wanted to gauge how are writing skills were. Our narrative had to be at least two to two and a half pages long. I chose to write my first ever narrative on my trip to Fort Worth, Texas. Once again, I was plagued with writer's block. I had the story in my head, but everything I Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 17. Example Of A Narrative Essay College A narrative essay is a story that is true and has meaning, whether it be to prove a point, send a message, explain an event that's happened, or entertain the reader. Most narrative essays are written to convey a story from a past time that sends a message to not only the reader, but the writer themselves. When planning a narrative essay, the first step is to identify the topic in which the writer wants to explain. There are multiple ways in which the you can come up with a topic, it all depends on the style you're most comfortable with. The next step is to write down all the main events that supports the topic you have chosen. What main events led up to the story you're trying to approach? What key events made what your topic is all about?...show more content... This event made a big impact on my life as it showed me the value of work ethic by showing me that hard work pays off. It also taught me to never give up and follow your heart. And lastly, it taught me the importance of a team to help me through the tough practices and mental battles. When choosing my topic, I wrote down 3 main events that were important in my life that impacted me and shaped myself into the person I am today. The 3 I chose were: breaking the 3200–meter record for my school, breaking the 4x800 record with my team, and lastly, moving from Poinciana to Kissimmee and leaving all my friends to take on a new chapter in my life. The topic I chose to write is one I feel very passionate about and the single memory I can recall the most. Although breaking the 4x800 record with my team was a memorable moment and the first record I'd ever broken at my school, nothing compared to the feeling I got when I broke an individual record that was held by my own coach. I had a sense of relief and happiness, not just for myself, but my coach as well. It felt as if I didn't just break the record for the sake of me personally, but for him too. May have taken 21 years to be broken, but I'd say it sure was worth Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 18. Narrative: a Memorable Event. Essay Narrative: A memorable event. I woke to my body jittering with anxiety. It was 7 o'clock on a Saturday morning, and it was the day that I had been awaiting for. I was almost ready when my Dad shouted '' Ya betta get ya'self moving Kertesha, we're gonna be late!''. I paused, and took one last look at myself in the mirror. My hair was scraped back, my polo necked fleece was suffocating and itchy, my black ribbed jodhpurs were tight around my midriff, but there was one thing missing. It was one thing which all the girls on the internet, in the movies, and in all the equestrian magazines had – A gilet. Although the smell of the manure was strong, over time I began to appreciate it, and so it became more of an aroma, than an odour. But this is something my Dad never seemed to get used, to let alone appreciate. The entire stable had a rather odd smell; it was a mixture of hay, cut grass, dust, manure, and oddly, a hint of leather. This was a smell which I soon became very fond of. There were six of us in the group, we were all new to Dulwhich Riding School and filled with enthusiasm. After being handed our riding hats, we were alphabetically permitted to choose a horse, and as always, I was last in the alphabet. I was left with a choice of two, one was a blue roan filly. She was a young slate coloured horse who reminded me of Eeyore (from Winnie the Pooh), and was also a lot smaller than the other horses. Then I saw the attractive sorrel coloured gelding, he stood glaring at me with his head poking out of the barn gate. His mane was dark and silky, and he had a striking white birthmark on the bridge of his nose. I had an instant connection with him, and proclaimed his name as Cashmere. As I lead Cashmere towards the indoor riding arena, my heart raced. The inconsistent sound hoofs trotting along the cobbled ground were intensifying. As I stroked Cashmere's muzzle and gave him a mint polo (he's favourites), I began to mentally prepared myself to mount, and ride him. Cashmere was Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 19. Narrative Essay Examples Narrative Essay I step my foot into public school for the first time ever my freshman year, not knowing a single person other than my brother. Prior to my freshman year, I was homeschooled. The school feels really big at the time and it's very overwhelming. As I walk around I see people hugging, reuniting, and saying, "oh my gosh I have missed you!" All I am worrying about is what people are thinking of me like, does she have any friends, or she looks like a loner. I am getting nervous and more nervous every second that passes. I decide I need to go straight to my classroom, but I have no idea where to go. I finally make my way to my classroom, then I sit down, and the bell rings. "The day is just beginning," I think to myself....show more content... I am halfway through the day. After this long day it's still not over yet, I am just half way through the day going into 5th period. As I walked in I see a girl I already met and I wanted to run and give her a hug, I was so excited to see someone I already knew. I didn't have to worry where I was going to sit that period, or who I was going to talk to. I probably looked like the happiest person in the world with a big smile on my face. As I am smiling as I say, "hello, Claire right?" She says, "Yes!" We sit together, exchange social media usernames, and numbers. Later, I go to 6th period, my science class. When we come in the teacher says to talk with people to sit in alphabetical order. I am placed next to a kid named Dominic Thomas, and his buddy is sitting on the other side of me. They were acting like I didn't exist, and getting in my personal space. Later, the teacher says, "The person sitting at your table will be your lab partner." That's when I found out Dominic Thomas will be my lab partner for the quarter. I did not know what was coming for me. Finally, 7th period here I come. Now this class was one crazy class, with some crazy people, but it was all good because I get to leave after this period. The bell rings and I am out of there. Leaving school I am feeling many emotions, I am happy to leave, excited to tell my mom about all I experienced that day, Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 20. Personal Narrative Essay Examples Image nine resonates with me because it represents women "taking a seat at the table" in business and I believe more women need to be at the table. The photograph showing a woman in the back row reminds me of a theme from Sheryl Sandberg's book, Lean In, where she urges women to take a seat at the table versus sitting on the side of the room. After graduating from Smith College, where I was empowered by intellectually curious and ambitious women, and then transitioning to banking, a male–dominated industry, I recognized early in my career how few women there were in executive roles. As a career driven woman I became inspired to change the status quo and promote the career advancement of women. In my professional career, I have taken several...show more content... After gaining approval and funding from human resources, our founding committee secured Senator Kirsten Gillibrand to speak at the launch event. The launch for our group was so popular that we had to a find a new venue to accommodate the 100+ employees who wanted to attend. Next, we obtained the bank's chief technology officer as our executive sponsor, the only female executive. After the launch, I went on to lead programming, which included organizing "Lean In" circles for women at varying levels, a roundtable chat with our president & CEO, and lunch & learns with our chief technology officer.
