1. 1. You are an Adult Sunday School Teacher in your local church. You have decided to lead
a series of lessons on Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount.
How many lessons will it take for you to cover this material? How do you organize your
lessons and what kinds of issues/topics in Jesus’ sermon will be your focus? Why? How
does the class respond to this series and what do they learn?
Being a Sunday school teacher and a director for church praise dance church group for a moment in real
life, I decided to write on question number 4.
l began this essay on being a leader as insight on the Sermon and will include the following when, where
and how segments of the lessons/classes. I have estimated it will take 4 Sunday’s to complete the
lesson beginning in the first Sunday in June. I am looking forward to this great opportunity and so
excited of making a decision to lead a series of lessons on Jesus “Sermon on the Mount” during the
summer and will give my best.
First off, I will organize my lessons based off the setting, the lesson given, and the overall picture of the
sermon. My first topic would be describing the atmosphere and the setting of the mount. Was it
beautifully, dull, quiet, loud, beautiful, etc.? How many people were present; “great crowds followed
him” from all around the area, (Matthew 5:1-2). I would describe the Beatitudes, which describes the
character of the people of the kingdom of God, expressed as “blessings.” (Wikipedia.org) My lesson on
the Ten Commandments will list each one in order and explain them in accurate form. I will explain

2. what Jesus considered “good works” and how he condemns doing them simply for recognition and not
from the heart. This was one of my best discussions because the heart I have for my kids and others.
My last discussion would focus on Judging and explain why Jesus condemns those who judge others
before first judging themselves. “Judge not, that ye be not judged”. (Matthew 7: 1-6) Last but not least,
I would conclude the sermon regarding false prophets. Since I feel music is a great teaching tool and an
easy way to have something stick to you; toward each class I will use the dance of music to conclude
each teaching through praise and worship. Why?, I feel all the topics regarding the Sermon on the
Mount (Matthew 5, 6, and 7) are very important discussion topics is why I would try to squeeze as much
in as possible.
Closing, Boy was I thrilled how the class responded to my lesson. They participated in every discussion
and were very opened on the negative aspect of the class. They learned the ins and outs on each
subject; that majority all surveys at the end of the class was outstanding. I was also grateful for the ones
that gave their disappointed output because it gave me an eye opener of what to correct for my next
leading class. I was thrilled to hand my surveys to the leader above the Sunday School program with a
smile.
